Kode9 and Burial are OGs, intrinsically linked to one another and the evolution of the UK’s electronic music scene. The former, whose real name is Steve Goodman, is one of the founding fathers of UK dubstep, and the owner of his own record label — Hyperdub — which Burial (William Emmanuel Bevan) joined as the label’s first artist in 2005. Since, the two have gone on to produce various musical projects, notably the joint album FABRICLIVE 100: Kode9 & Burial. Now, the duo is back together for the two-piece EP, Infirmary / Unknown Summer.

HARMONY IN MY HEAD is another of Cherry Red's celebrations of a bygone era - this time, the boom in Power Pop and New Wave which followed the Punk explosion in 1977. This triple-CD box set spins off the success of the 4CD compilation Action Time Vision (2016), which documented Punk on independent labels. New Wave was a term coined in 1977 to describe a clutch of new artists whose music shared much of the energy of punk, but boasted a more sophisticated level of musicianship and a heavier reliance on traditional pop melodies. Although the term had such a wide definition in the States that it was quickly rendered almost meaningless, it was more strictly applied in the UK, with the radio-friendly likes of Elvis Costello and Squeeze scoring numerous hits and influencing younger bands to the extent that, by the early Eighties, the New Wave itself had become Old Wave.

Of course, hugely successful female pop stars were nothing new in 1977, but this isn’t their story. This is the story of the everyday artist. The jobbing, gigging, working musician. The independent spirt.

PXR5 is the ninth studio album by Hawkwind, released in 1979. It reached No. 59 on the UK album charts. Hawkwind's end-of-the-'70s incarnation heard on PXR5 was the last to feature vocalist/poet Bob Calvert alongside fellow veterans Simon House, Simon King, and, of course, Dave Brock. It is also the last in the sequence of brittle, pop-inflected records the band launched with Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music.
