Garzon

Los Temperamentos, founded in 2009, embraces the music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Under the direction of Colombian cellist and arranger Néstor Fabián Cortés Garzón, the ensemble specializes in rediscovering and resonating the relationships between the seemingly opposing worlds of baroque music in Latin America and Europe. In their thematically diverse programs, the artists blend different styles, composers and cultures, thus repeatedly demonstrating the liveliness and immense richness of colors of what is now simply called “early music”.

Pianist, composer and teacher, who started in music at 8 years of age by vocation and inspired by his father who is also a musician. Although with a solid base in the classical repertoire for piano, his interest in jazz and improvised music has led him to start a new career path, participating in academic components in international festivals such as the VIII Panama Jazz Festival, the IX Cartagena International Music Festival as an International guest at the recent 2018 Sumaq Festival in Lima (Peru) and receiving master-class from pianists such as Jean Michel Pilc, Danilo Pérez and Enrico Pieranunzi.

This recording forms part of Sony Classical’s further batch of complete recordings from the CBS/Sony and RCA Victor catalogues. This album features “a delightfully fresh-sounding” Michele Pertusi (BBC Music Magazine) in Zubin Mehta’s 1992 recording of Le nozze di Figaro with the Maggio Musicale of Florence. The BBC reviewer lauded Mehta for his “energising sense of pace and colour [and] consistently good orchestral playing.
