Ghosted

A mysterious love story between Hamburg and Taipeh. The unsolved murder of her young Taiwanese lover Ai-ling leaves the Hamburg artist Sophie Schmitt completely disoriented. She dedicates a video-installation to her and shows it in Taipei. During the opening she is approached by a mysterious journalist. Sophie is fascinated at first glance by Mei-li, the young journalist. Mei-li takes her to visit the famous Taipei night markets and tries to seduce the artist. Sophie, still mourning her lost lover, rejects Mei-li and returns immediately to Hamburg. Shortly afterwords Mei-li shows up on her doorstep, unannounced. Sophie takes her in and finally falls for her. But soon she realizes that her new lover is secretly investigating Ai-ling's death. Strange happenings occur, sudden flashes of recollection come and go, and then Sophie finds out that there is no Mei-Li working for a Taiwanese newspaper and that no one by that name ever entered Germany. Who is the mysterious Taiwanese woman?

Formerly from Chicago and now based in Brooklyn, Calidonia County is the ambient solo project of graphic artist and designer Ian Ferguson. "The Ghosted Years" was leisurely crafted over the span of two years resulting in organic swelling soundscapes, nuanced compositions and idyllic vistas. It is comprised of layered tones delicately weaving in and around themselves and expanding ever-outward. The purity of form here is its greatest asset, allowing the compositions to breathe and purposefully settle into their own thoughtful tranquility.

'GHOSTED' tells a story of survival inside a British Prison. Jack a model prisoner, has kept his head down and done his time. After his wife confirms that she is leaving him, on the anniversary of their son's death, the only thing that keeps him from going under is the new prisoner, Paul. Jack's cell mate Ahmed, attempts to guide him on a path of salvation, a path that involves saving Paul from the clutches of the wing beast, Clay. Jack struggles between the curiosity of the head prison officer Donner, and the violent determination of clay, eventually saving Paul. As Jack and Paul finally accept each other, it soon becomes clear that Paul is not all he seems and may have a closer connection to Jack than he could ever imagine.
