Also known as “Guitar chop”, the guitar skank is an important part of reggae and dub music. Due to its playing technique, this particular guitar sound is often hard to get with plugins, even some of the modern ones. If you don’t play guitar, it’s likely you’ll never really acheive to get this sound right… and if you do play guitar, it’s always nice to have an instrument to quickly lay out your ideas. That’s why I created Le Skank.

Supergroup Gone Is Gone have announced details of their second album, If Everything Happens For A Reason… Then Nothing Really Matters At All. The follow-up to 2017’s debut album Echolocation will be released on December 4 via Clouds Hill. To mark today’s announcement, the band have released an official video for new track Breaks. Having been written and worked over the past three years, the 2020 lockdown allowed Gone Is Gone (Mastodon​’s Troy Sanders, QOTSA​’s Troy Van Leeuwen, At The Drive-In​’s Tony Hajjar and composer Mike Zarin) to fully commit and finish their second full-length.

For the thirteenth album of our themed series, this years theme is the 1980’s Unapologetically nostalgic and fun, Skank up the 80’s will include some of the most iconic singles that achieved international acclaim. So, all that padded shoulders, big perms and ankle warmers along with the cheesy pop and rock of that era, thats what we’re doing, all wrapped up in a ska and reggae style from bands all over the world!
