Pianist Sally Whitwell returns to the music of minimalist master Philip Glass in her latest album on ABC Classics, presenting a monumental and immersive journey for solo piano. In 2011, Whitwell won the ARIA Award for Best Classical Album for her collection of Glass’ music Mad Rush. Since then, her relationship with the composer has deepened, centring around the Etudes – his largest and most significant work for solo piano. After hearing Mad Rush, in 2013 Glass asked Whitwell to give the world-premiere of the Etudes, alongside the composer, at the Perth International Arts Festival; he subsequently invited her to perform them again in New York and Los Angeles. This album is a result of that close collaboration.

In some circles Philip Glass is known as "The Godfather of Trance" and that popularity has led many young producer/musicians from around the world to create remixes of his music. Glass's own label Orange Mountain Music has put together its most unusual CD to date with this collection of 13 exciting remix tracks, some unsolicited, covering a wide selection of his pieces - from vocal, instrumental and orchestral music to film scores. These absorbing new interpretations of Philip's work represent a very diverse programme without any one dominant style - dance, techno, trance, ambient and downtempo influences are all there.

Volume 1 of the complete string quartets of Philip Glass is the latest recording by the multi award-winning Molinari Quartet. This digital-only release features string quartets 1 to 4 and will be followed by a second volume to be recorded next year. The complete set of eight quartets will eventually be released as a box set.
