When Glen Campbell walked onstage at the Troubadour on West Hollywood's Sunset Strip on August, 19, 2008, he was even more iconic than the legendary venue that birthed The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles. Performing a stunning mix of songs embedded in our DNA ('Rhinestone Cowboy,' 'Galveston') and unexpected jewels from Lou Reed ('Jesus'), Foo Fighters ('Times Like These'), Tom Petty ('Walls (Circus),' 'Angel Dream'), Paul Westerberg ('Sadly Beautiful') and Green Day ('Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)'), Campbell is in fine voice and demonstrates on more than one song his dexterity, tone and emotional transparency on guitar. With a band that includes four of his children, session and live veterans from Beck, Jellyfish, Jane's Addiction, Murphy's Law, D Generation and Danzig, it was a night of music that explored the commonalities of genres, country-tinged arrangements and how good live music feels.

Recorded on July 4, 1969, at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey, this album is a good representation of Glen Campbell's music of the period, but perhaps not his usual live sound, complete with an orchestral accompaniment (conducted by Al DeLory), as well as a group of top L.A. session musicians who would normally not go on tour. Campbell himself was satisfied with the album, which contains most of his best-known numbers up to that point in his career (augmented by numbers like "The Impossible Dream" and "The Lord's Prayer"), done in a smooth, slickly professional fashion.

The 2008 recording captures Glen in fine form, on a mixture of career hits and other favourites from his peerless career. The set included such signatures as “Rhinestone Cowboy” and “Galveston,” as well as his interpretations of originals by Lou Reed (“Jesus”), Foo Fighters (“Times Like These”), Tom Petty (“Walls”), and Paul Westerberg (“Sadly Beautiful”). The show not only displays Campbell in fine voice and nimble form on guitar, and communicating with his admiring audience as warmly as ever, but showcases a band featuring no fewer than four of his children. The line-up also includes session and live players also known for their work with Beck, Jellyfish, Jane’s Addiction, Murphy’s Law, D Generation, and Danzig.

Documentary telling Glen Campbell's life story, from impoverished childhood in Arkansas through success as a guitarist and singer with records like Wichita Lineman and Rhinestone Cowboy. It is a story of success, disgrace and redemption as rich as any of the storylines in his most famous songs. A self-taught prodigy on the guitar, by his mid-20s Campbell was one of the top session guitarists in LA, but he wanted to make it under his own name, and in 1967 he found his distinctive country pop sound with hits like Gentle on My Mind and By the Time I Get to Phoenix.

By 1972, Campbell's record sales started slipping. After "Manhattan Kansas" reached number six that year, he had trouble having Top 40 hits for the next two years. Furthermore, his television show was canceled. As his career slowed, he began sinking into drug and alcohol addiction, which continued even through his mid-'70s revival. In 1975, he returned to the Top Ten with "Rhinestone Cowboy," a huge hit that reached number one on both the country and pop charts. Over the next two years, he had a number of Top Ten country hits, including "Country Boy (You Got Your Feet in L.A.)" and "Don't Pull Your Love"/"Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye," which also reached the pop charts. In 1977, he had his final number one hit with "Southern Nights," which topped both the country and pop charts.
