DARKEST HOUR, the Washington, D.C. metalcore pioneers, will release their ninth full-length album, "Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora", on March 10 via Southern Lord Recordings. The 12-song effort was part of a crowdfunding campaign that the band launched earlier this year, with the ultimate tally netting the band well over 100% of the initial goal and allowing them to also create an album beyond their initial expectations. The band chose producer Kurt Ballou (HIGH ON FIRE, NAILS, CONVERGE) for "his obvious genius" (as guitar player Mike Schleibaum said) and recorded the release at Ballou's Godcity Studio. Artist Shaun Beaudry was commissioned to create a custom painting, giving the album a unique visual identity.
U.K.-based blackened death metal group HECATE ENTHRONED release "Embrace Of The Godless Aeon", its first album in five years (and its debut for new label M-Theory Audio), on January 25, 2019. The new record is the first recording with vocalist Joe Stamps, who joined the band in 2015, features guest vocals on three songs by Sarah Jezebel Deva (CRADLE OF FILTH, THERION, MORTIIS), and was co-produced by Dan Abela (VOICES, THE ANTICHRIST IMPERIUM).
Mathias Loldmalm had a vision that came to be with the release of Godless Beauty. It's predecessor, An Evil Shade Of Gray, was an immature journey into the fundamentals of melodic metal, but the inclusion of more traditional songwriting and Loldmalm's fantastic lead melodies brought the bar of doom/death metal higher than it's ever been.
