Melanie Singer and songwriter Melanie rose to fame in the late 1960s, making her breakthrough with an appearance at the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair, the rock festival that came to typify the hippie ethos of the era. While Melanie certainly seemed like a flower child in both creative vision and temperament, her singular blend of folk-rock, art song, purposefully playfully pop, and daringly personal introspection set her apart from her peers, delivered with a smokey, quavering passion that made her more serious numbers all the more incisive. 1970's Candles in the Rain – which included the singles "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" and "Ruby Tuesday" – would become her commercial breakthrough and defining work. 1971's Gather Me, which included the number one hit "Brand New Key," would prove to be her best-remembered album, but she was remarkably prolific, recording and performing well into the 2020s and never straying far from the creative vision that gave her an audience.

Doc Watson and Gaither Carlton is a new album of old-time music produced from archival recordings by two legendary musicians. These largely unheard tapes were recorded at Doc Watsons two earliest concerts, presented in New York Citys Greenwich Village in 1962. Those shows were among the rare appearances Docs father-in-law, fiddler Gaither Carlton, made outside of North Carolina. The instrumental pieces, including Gaithers signature tune Double File, include intricate musical interactions developed through years of family music-making. On the songs and ballads, Docs instantly recognizable baritone voice is accompanied by his own guitar and Gaithers fiddle, or by the traditional combination of fiddle and banjo. Shortly after these recordings were made, Doc Watson embarked on a career as one of Americas premier acoustic guitarists, earning the National Medal of Arts and eight Grammy Awards.

Although this bootleg does its best to construct a sort of alternate version of Simon & Garfunkel's classic album Bookends, it's not exactly a different version of the record that was never released. The first dozen songs cobble together a facsimile of such an imaginary thing by combining alternate versions, outtakes, and demos of most of the album's tracks, padding it out with 7" mixes of "A Hazy Shade of Winter" and "Fakin' It," as well as adding the non-LP B-side "You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies." The differences aren't radical (though these versions of "Save the Life of My Child" and "At the Zoo" have some different lyrics), but it does at least make listening to the tunes a somewhat refreshing experience for fans of the album who have nonetheless tired of hearing it after dozens or hundreds of spins.

Scooter drop typically energetic new album ‘God Save The Rave’ APRIL 16, 2021 BY RYAN FORD. Iconic German happy hardcore group Scooter have just dropped their twentieth album ‘God Save The Rave’, almost four years after their last. The album features stand-out collaborations with some of the industries best, combining with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike for ‘We Love Hardcore’, Timmy Trumpet for ‘Paul is Dead’ and Harris & Ford for the namesake track ‘God Save The Rave’. The energetic selection of tracks aren’t without iconic samples either, with ‘We Love Hardcore’ sampling Zombie Nation’s ‘Kernkraft 400’, as ‘Which Light Switch Is Which?’ contains samples of the 1995 song ‘Strings of Infinity’ by T-Marc featuring Vincent. For those lucky enough to own the vinyl edition, the track ‘Wand’rin’ Star’ has been replaced by another track ‘Lugosi’.
