Wild Orchids marks the return of the former Genesis and GTR guitarist to his progressive rock roots. If 2005's Metamorpheus was Steve Hackett's penultimate classical record, then Orchids is his art rock flagship…

Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett stepped out on his own in the late '70s with several solo releases, including Defector. The 1980 release doesn't stray far musically from early Genesis, containing a healthy (or unhealthy, depending on your tastes) dose of progressive rock. Five flute- and keyboard-heavy instrumentals appear, as well as five vocal numbers with Hackett taking the singing chores. Of the vocal numbers, "The Toast" sounds a bit like Pink Floyd - it's light, with John Hackett's flute stripping away all menace from a melody line that could easily have fit on Dark Side of the Moon.

Special edition with two bonus tracks. Steve Hackett has spent the last few years carrying the Genesis torch across the globe, seemingly reminding anyone who may gave forgotten that he had a lot to do with the much heralded Genesis 70’s period. But never wanting to stay the same for too long, Hackett continues to explore new territory both physically and musically, as is evident on his new collection. An avid traveler and explorer, Hackett lends his experiences to his music by incorporating different styles and instruments, thus creating one of the most inspired albums of his career in Wolflight, his first album of new material since 2011’s Beyond The Shrouded Horizon.

Most supergroups don't last long, and GTR was no exception to the rule. Steve Hackett and Steve Howe - lead guitarists for the prime periods of Genesis and Yes, respectively - formed the band in 1986, not with the intention of reviving classic prog rock, but with the idea of making a stadium-shaking hard rock band. It was two veterans with very clear musical identities of their own, teamed with a trio of supporting musicians eager for a big break. Not the ideal formula for a perfect rock album, since the scales were already tipped toward one side as the recording began. And, GTR's lone eponymous album didn't deliver the fireworks that Howe and Hackett fans desired. Part of the problem is that the two guitarists crowd each other out; it rarely sounds like they're trading licks, but rather like they're stepping forward for solos at their pre-scheduled times…

2012 debut album from the Progressive Rock duo consisting of Chris Squire (Yes) and Steve Hackett (Genesis). With Progressive Rock (in its many forms) now seemingly more popular than ever, this collaboration from members of two of the godfathers of the genre is hugely exciting. Chris Squire has appeared on every Yes album since 1969 and is widely regarded as one of the most influential bass guitarists of all time. Now an established solo artist, Steve Hackett first came to prominence as the guitarist with Genesis. He was with the band from 1970 to 1977 and played on six studio albums and featured on three live albums before leaving to concentrate on his solo career. The two met when Chris Squire was working on a solo album and needed some guitar parts. Chris was put in touch with Steve and through these sessions the idea for Squackett was born.

The length of the two CDs together is 158 minutes. There is only 32 minutes common content with the LP. The 2 CD contains 80 minutes music not can be found on the Blu-Ray. Djabe in 2012 in connection with the Down And Up album release started a concert series in Hungary, Europe and Canada. The tour lasted until the summer of 2014. The gigs are often joined by friends of the band. Steve Hackett played guitar from Genesis, Gulli Briem of Mezzoforte added drums and percussion, living in New York the Canadian born saxophonist John Nugent (Tony Bennett, Ella Fiztgerald) completed the list of guests. The Miskolc concert on 10 November 2013 was particularly unusual because the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra and Sára Kovács on flute also contributed to the program. The 2CD represents each stage line-up of the all the gigs.
