Hamilton

The great northern jazz collective known as the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band have released their latest LP record, “Feelin’ Good.” The album has been published as an independent release and offers 11 classic jazz tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. A sparkling potpourri of jazz, blues, and gospel songs from one of the most distinguished and best-loved ensembles ever founded, “Feelin’ Good” by the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band is easily the most remarkable jazz LP to be released in spring of 2015.

Drummer Chico Hamilton, who is still going strong at age 91, is a truely unique visionary. In 1955, when jazz was beginning to flourish in many different directions, Hamilton made history by adopting an entirely new quintet format which includes a single reed instrument, guitar, cello, bass and drums. The cellist Fred Katz, who would mostly play with the bow, was considered as one of the "front" players. Youg reed player Paul Horn was the second horn player of the group who replaced the inaugural member Buddy Collette. The main part of this compilation album, released in 1963, is the four tracks (Track 5 through 8) by that edition of the Chico Hamilton Quintet. The rest are taken from two earlier recording sessions. Tracks 1 and 2 were recorded in 1956 and features Hamilton's trio with the young Jim Hall, who was 25 years old at the time, and George Duvivier. Tracks 3 and 4 were recorded in 1954 with Howard Roberts and Duvivier.

Despite his less-than-promising beginnings as the only key Founding Father not born and raised on American soil, Hamilton was one of the best and brightest of his generation. His notoriety has rested almost entirely on his role as Secretary of the Treasury in Washington's administration, yet few realize that Washington and Hamilton's bond was forged during the Revolutionary War.

Two highly accomplished musicians playing in a historic venue! Titled "I Could Write A Book", Scott Hamilton and Andreqa Pozza recorded in an ancient residential palace in the heart of Tuscany, a family property turned into a hotel which has become over the last years a meeting place for artists and musicians. The meeting in this case was between Scott Hamilton, Andrea Pozza, Giulio Cesare and Alfred Kramer on the occasion of a concert of the two musicians held in the music room of the historic venue.

The Original Chico Hamilton Quintet is a live album by drummer and bandleader Chico Hamilton's Quintet featuring multi-instrumentalist Buddy Collette recorded in 1955 but not released on the World Pacific label until 1960.

Released in mid-1975, the song became the group's second top-10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US (following 1971's "Don't Pull Your Love" which peaked at number four), and it was their only song to reach number one on this chart.
