'I Love 00s' celebrates all of the classic records that defined the 'noughties' - a culturally defining period for music in the UK. At a time when dance-music royalty, The Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Fatboy Slim, and Eric Prydz were topping the charts with their now iconic classics 'Where's Your Head At', 'I See You Baby' and 'Call On Me', the music that spanned from 2000-2010 set the tone for the century with a whole host of feel-good hits. Each disc on the album covers a wide range of tracks such as Calvin Harris's 'Acceptable in the 80s', Fatman Scoop's 'Be Faithful', Modjo's 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)', Daniel Bedingfield's 'Gotta Get Thru This', Justice's 'We Are Your Friends', and many, many more.

Whenyoung are Aoife Power (Vocals/Bass), Niall Burns (Guitar), Andrew Flood (Drums). Their story started in Limerick, Ireland… three underage teenagers met for the first time after sneaking into Costello's Tavern: the only bar in town that floated their musical tastes. After bonding over cheap vodka and the sound of The Velvet Underground, they began playing music together and moved to Dublin to seek some big city excitement.

Indie Pop, Indie Rock | Label: Communion Records - COMM306

Bringing back Something's Changing (2017) producer Tim Bidwell for her fourth album, No Words Left, singer/songwriter Lucy Rose remains in the intimate, hushed acoustic sphere of her third release. It soon becomes evident, however, that, while stylistically similar, No Words Left is a more somber, heartbroken outing. First track "Conversation" establishes minor intervals and a gentle, woebegone tone from its opening picked-acoustic guitar and partly dissonant, spare strings. Meanwhile, Rose's resigned vocals seem to come from the adjoining sofa cushion rather than any kind of performance when she confesses "No one loves me quite like you do/But no one lets me down like you do."

After the breakup of Deep Purple in 1976, guitarist Tommy Bolin wasted little time beginning work on his second solo album, Private Eyes. While it was more of a conventional rock album than its predecessor, Teaser (which served primarily as a showcase for his guitar skills and contained several jazz/rock instrumentals), it was not as potent. The performances aren't as inspired as those on Teaser or even those on Bolin's lone album with Deep Purple, Come Taste the Band, although there a few highlights could be found.

Folk, Bluegrass, Americana | Country: USA (Portland, OR) | Label: Five Letter Word

The debut album Siren, from Portland, Oregon based trio Five Letter Word, takes its title from audiences’ oft-guessed origin of their band name. Such speculation is not that far afield, as these three powerful women, with their harmony-driven ‘siren song’ folk/Americana, are vocally alluring, achingly sweet, and known to provide some unexpected dramatic songwriting twists and turns. Taking inspiration from the harmonic tradition of groups like The Wailin’ Jennys, Dixie Chicks, and The Wood Brothers, Five Letter Word add their own special flair, as Vortex Magazine remarks: “the fiery, sweet sounds the three create when they come together is uniquely infectious.”

The Japanese House is the solo project of London-based singer/songwriter Amber Bain. Crafting a mix of lush dream pop and brooding electronica, the Buckinghamshire native worked under a handful of different monikers before using the Japanese House name in 2015. The name was inspired by a childhood trip to Devon, where she posed as a boy for a week, earning the affection of a neighborhood girl who was later heartbroken to learn Bain's true identity.

Devin Tuel may consider herself to be an artist meant for a different time, but she now finds herself inhabiting her own true place. The singer-songwriter is at home in Newburgh, NY reflecting on her third album, Happier Now, released under her nom de plume, Native Harrow, as well as the difficult sojourn the former ballerina and classically trained singer has had to traverse to become the writer and performer she was meant to be. “This record is about becoming your own advocate. Realizing that maybe you are different in several or a myriad of ways and that that is okay. And further, it is about me becoming a grown woman,” Tuel says.
