Karen Lano has been said to have started the Pop-Folk revelation in France. With her captivating voice, she mixes pop, folk and jazz in her songs which she writes and composes herself. She has just finished her latest French tour promoting her new album, "My Name is Hope Webster", which was released in October 2009. An intimate and sensual universe where pop, folk and jazz meet.

Chandos signed Karen Geoghegan as an exclusive artist in 2007 following her wonderful performances on the BBC TV ‘Classical Star’ programme. This is her fourth recording with the label, following her CD of works by Hummel, Weber, Berwald, Jacobi, Elgar and Gershwin, her CD of French music for bassoon and piano, and her contribution, in the Suite-Concertino in F major, to Noseda’s Wolf-Ferrari CD. All of these received much acclaim, and the expressive maturity and sensitivity of her playing have quickly cemented her status as a rising star.

This CD is nothing short of spectacular! I am a professional jazz singer- also Canadian, fluent in French, a published poet… originally intending a career in classical music. I say this because Karen Young has created something so artful- melding jazz, impressionism, poetry, lyricism- into something utterly unique and her own! There are many skilled craftsmen who can meld traditions successfully, and compose and arrange well… but it's a rare artist like Ms. Young who you feel is all the while guided by an expressive sense of expressive purpose that is never drowned in the many divine colours. French composer Joseph Canteloube (1879-1957) made a life's work of collecting, transcribing, and arranging folksongs. His Chants d'Auvergne has long been very popular. Much of the rest of his songs, though, have been unjustly neglected. Among these, L'arada emerges as a particularly intriguing work. A native of North Carolina, Dr. Coker-Merritt received her Master of Music degree from UNC-Greensboro, and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance at Florida State University. She began her professional operatic career with Pittsburgh Opera, studying as an apprentice with opera legends Renata Scotto, Régine Crespin and Renée Fleming. She made her professional operatic debut with Baltimore Opera in 2003. Sean Kennard has won top prizes in the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Belgium), the International Music Competition of Viña del Mar (Chile), the Vendome International Piano Competition (Portugal), the Sendai International Music Competition (Japan), the Hilton Head International Piano Competition (USA), the National Chopin Competition, the Iowa Piano Competition, the American Pianists Association, and the International Chopin Competition of the Pacific.
