Traveling through rural Mexico on their way to a job in Central America, a small band of American mercenaries halts their journey to bivouac in the countryside for a few days. Their leader, Colonel Burckhardt (Blacula's Charles Macaulay), plans for the men to mix a bit of training with R&R as they wait to rendezvous with additional personnel. The six mercs under Burckhardt's command are a motley crew of combat vets, and they're either completely amoral or murderously psychotic.
Cruel and cunning misogynistic serial killer Danny (superbly played with creepy intensity by John Karlen of "Dark Shadows" and "Daughters of Darkness" fame) preys on nubile young lady hitchhikers in a small San Francisco town. It's up to tough, determined Detective Vince De Carlo (a fine and convincing performance by James Luisi) and his easygoing partner Mike (a solid Martin Speer; Dee Wallace husband in Wes Craven's horror classic "The Hills Have Eyes") to nab the foul fiend.
Sleaze queen Divine lives in a caravan with her mad hippie son Crackers and her 250-pound mother Mama Edie, trying to rest quietly on their laurels as 'the filthiest people alive'. But competition is brewing in the form of Connie and Raymond Marble, who sell heroin to schoolchildren and kidnap and impregnate female hitchhikers, selling the babies to lesbian couples. Kowalski works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to San Francisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody.
Wyatt and Billy are two motorcycle riders (bikers) on their way to Mardis Gras, and encounter hitchhikers, a drunken lawyer, a jail cell, a whorehouse and the death of a friend.
