The Essential Billie Holiday: Carnegie Hall Concert Recorded Live is a live album by jazz singer Billie Holiday, recorded November 10, 1956 at Carnegie Hall in New York. The two subsequent concerts served as promotion for Billie Holiday's autobiography Lady Sings the Blues.

Entitled Recital, this disc compiles numbers from 1952 and 1954 which were recorded with various accompanists.

Lady In Satin is Billie Holiday’s penultimate masterpiece. The 1958 gem is one of her finest achievements and a full display of her immortal vocal abilities. Joined by the Ray Ellis Orchestra, Holiday dazzles on tunes including “For Heaven's Sake”, “You Don't Know What Love Is” and “I'm A Fool To Want You.” The album is one of Holiday’s personal favorites and an emotional listen from start to finish. It is one of jazz’s bestselling albums and was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. Absolutely essential.

It's all but impossible to divorce the music on the Muffs' album No Holiday from the death of the group's lead vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and guiding light Kim Shattuck, whose battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ended on October 2, 2019, just 16 days before No Holiday was released.

Most of the songs on this session were originally released on 10-inch vinyl in 1952 under the title "Billie Holiday Sings"; four additional tunes were added to this 1956 LP version, now renamed "Solitude". Holiday is backed by some impressive musicians including Oscar Peterson on piano, Ray Brown on double bass, Barney Kessel on guitar and drummer Alvin Stoller on these standards, among them "Blue Moon" and "I Only Have Eyes For You".

Clarice Jensen releases her fourth solo album, In holiday clothing, out of the great darkness, on 17 October 2025 via FatCat Records’ 130701 imprint. The new album showcases Jensen’s distinctive compositional approach, in which she improvises and layers her cello through shifting loops and a chain of electronic effects, exploring a series of rich, drone-based sound fields. Pulsing, visceral and full of color, her work is deeply immersive, marked by a wonderful sense of restraint and an almost hallucinatory clarity.

Josh Rouse has recorded an album of original holiday songs, which all feel like a classic 60s jazz-influenced holiday album (think Vince Guaraldi, A Charlie Brown Christmas). This music should appeal to two audiences: Josh Rouse fans and holiday music fans. The First Edition release, includes a bonus disk featuring 3 Christmas classics performed acoustically + 3 demo versions of songs from the album.

RCA Records has released a soundtrack album for the animated holiday special Trolls Holiday. The album features the songs from the short performed by the project’s voice cast, including Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Zooey Deschanel, James Corden, Ron Funches and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Also included a suite from the score compose by Jeff Morrow (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure). Trolls Holiday directed by Joel Crawford and written by Josh Bycel & Jonathan Feneris is based on DreamWorks’ hit musical-comedy film and continues the story of the Trolls and the Bergensased. The animated special will premier on November 24 on NBC.

Billie Holiday's recordings for Commodore Records have been overshadowed to a large part by her Verve and Columbia offerings, but this collection recorded in 1944 deserves a place alongside her better known albums. Includes the first version of her first hit and signature song, the racially-charged "Strange Fruit".
