Recorded during Marc Bolan's U.S. visits during 1971 and 1972, Spaceball is the first full re-counting of four American radio sessions previously made partially available as a bonus LP within the Marc label's Till Dawn compilation in 1985. Eight songs, taped in L.A. in 1972, are reprised from that set; 11 more are collected here. The overall mood of the two CDs is sparse, but astonishingly dynamic, with the earliest session – taped for WBAI, New York, in June 1971 – especially remarkable. It opens with a pair of unaccompanied Bolan performances, previewing the as-yet-unreleased "Cosmic Dancer" and "Planet Queen." The guitar heavy "Elemental Child" follows, a surprising inclusion given the song's freak-out dynamics, but it's an effective piece, all the more so after bandmates Mickey Finn and bassist Steve Currie join in a few minutes into the song.

Between 1994 and 1996, Edsel released eight full-length CDs of Marc Bolan's previously unreleased home demos, alternate takes, unused and abandoned songs, and unfinished recordings. These CDS were deleted in 2001. In late 2010, all eight discs were re-issued in a limited edition deluxe case bound book package. Unavailable since then, these intriguing recordings are now repackaged for a new legion of Bolan fans. The eight CDs collect 184 Marc Bolan and T. Rex performances, recorded during the 1970s. Some, in a near-finished state, failed to make the final cut. Many others, ranging from spur-of-the-moment home demos to alternate studio takes and jams, were simply abandoned. All were unreleased at the time of Bolan's death in 1977.

From 1971 to 1973, T. Rex and its creator Marc Bolan was the biggest pop phenomenon in England since Beatlesmania. Everything helps to speak for T. Rex of an extraordinary craze that the press refers to as "T. Rexmania". The albums Electric Warrior (1971) and the Slider (1972) are immortal testimonies.

70's glam rock icons T. Rex were the creation of Marc Bolan and played amped-up rock & roll with boogie rhythms, flights of lyrical fancy, and crunching guitars. Beginning with the 1970 single "Ride a White Swan," Bolan tapped into the basics of rock and pop while dressing them up in equal amounts of mystical poetry and down-to-earth raunch. Songs like "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" and the album Electric Warrior defined the T. Rex sound, The Slider perfected it, and each album that followed took a big swing and, more often than not, especially on 1974's funk- and soul-influenced Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow, connected. The band, and Bolan's, lifespans were tragically short, but it was massively influential and inspired many of the best metal, punk, new wave, and alternative rock bands who followed in their glittery wake. Marc Bolan was born Mark Feld on September 30, 1947 in Stoke Newington, London, England.

Over the past couple of years, the Alternative Singles vinyl issues have become highly popular amongst fans with different recordings of each single and sometimes tracks that weren't actually singles at the time being issued as such. Most of the recordings are taken from overseas broadcast, rehearsal sessions, discarded mixes and unused demos versions but all of them fascinating. Here we have gathered together all the A & B sides plus some extra bonus tracks.
