Hooverphonic is a Belgian band that formed in October 1995. Though originally categorized as a trip hop group, they quickly expanded their sound to the point where they could no longer be described as a lone genre, but rather encompass alternative, electronica, electropop, rock, and a mixture of others. The band originally called themselves Hoover, but later changed their name to Hooverphonic after discovering other groups were already using the Hoover name and to avoid any legal issues with the vacuum cleaner company.

Having held their ground during the tornado of punk, Surrey prog-rock stalwarts Camel began the 80s in style with Nude: an ambitious concept LP based on the true story of Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda, who believed World War II was still ongoing when he was rescued from a remote Philippine island in 1974. It would not be the last time Camel tackled political and emotional turmoil in the 80s, as 1984’s Stationary Traveller would go on to show.

The best way to describe this band is a mixture of ideas from electronic and experimental music fused with progressive metal. An all instrumental band, Kong are able to create various sounds and moods, not unlike some post rock. Kong often has segments where the band is playing entirely separate from one another, yet the sound works. Eclectic is a word that comes to mind when listening to this band.
They started out in 1988 as a side project for Amsterdam-based musicians Dirk DeVries (guitar, samples, programming), Aldo Sprenger (guitar), Mark Drillich (bass, programming), and Rob Smits (drums)…

Little Miss Sunshine [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] Review by Marisa Brown [-]
The quirky Hoover family's travels from New Mexico to California in order to support 7-year-old Olive's dream of being in a beauty pageant and the events that occur during the trip provide the back line to the soundtrack to the film Little Miss Sunshine. With the exceptions of the pop-dance "Catwalkin'" and the remix of "Superfreak," which presumably are played during the actual competition, the music that accompanies the film is pretty, introspective, and vaguely sad – the perfect choice for a 2006 Sundance-celebrated film.
