Mogwai's sixth album continues to showcase the fiercely layered guitars and dynamics of their classic work, and features a new array of rhythms and melodies. These hint more than ever before at their electronic and metal influences. On one hand, it is a return to the boundless soundscapes of the early albums that introduced everyone to their unique vision of funeral doom metal. On the other hand, it is an evolution of the music within the mysterious mythos of The Howling Void. Epic guitar riffs, accompanied by atmospheric keyboards, resonate timelessly, touching on philosophical questions of metaphysics in the lyrics. "The Glow Of A Distant Fire" is a journey into one's inner world, into the microcosm. It is an album without which the picture of the modern heavy scene cannot be complete.

Darkness is rising with a vengeance. SETH return with their fifth full-length “The Howling Spirit” after the band mysteriously disappeared following the release of "Era-Decay" (2004). The French combine the harsh and sinister sound of their country's current Black Metal movement with an unerring sense for the atmospheric and melodic.

A very nervous man named Cartwright comes into Perry's office to have the neighbor arrested for his howling dog. He states that the howling is a sign that there is a death in the neighborhood. He also wants a will written giving his estate to the lady living at the neighbors house. It is all very mysterious and by the next day, his will is changed and Cartwright is missing, as is the lady of the house next door. Perry has a will and a retainer and must find out whether he has a client or a beneficiary.
