I dont normally purchase anything with the words "Rock N Roll" in the title, although I dont mind some Rock n Roll music, it is not my music of choice. Having said that the track listings on this CD pushed me into thinking this could be more R&B than R&R, with the likes of Ruth Brown, Titus Turner) and it was enough to make me take a gamble and buy (you have to do things now and again). I also looked at other reviews on the other compilations in this series,(Heavy Sugar, Sassy Sugar) and decided to buy. And what an excellent decison it was, It is packed with 3 CDs worth of R&B/R&R tracks. you could argue whether some are actually R&B, rather than R&R but, whatever camp your musical tastes lie in, this CD is brilliant, of course some of the tracks are out and out Rock and Roll(the Bay Bops for instance- with that Doo Wop style of track), but the majority are pure listening pleasure.

The CD set contains more than 3 hours of all the private recordings Elvis made while off duty in Germany when he was serving as a soldier in the US army during the 1958 -1960 period and, includes rare tracks from a recently discovered tape comprising over an hour of unheard personal recordings. Although the original tapes were damaged with noise, hiss and distortion, for the first time ever, all of Elvis’ recordings made in Germany, have now all been painstakingly cleaned, repaired, and restored, using the most sophisticated technology.

I dont normally write reviews, but in response to a certain negative review I felt I had to!. Firstly I have to state I have actually purchased this set, and have always been a massive fan of this awesome band. This box set contains at least 4 of the best southern rock albums, from one of the finest bands ever to come from the southern states of America! Why they didnt include the first album from the original line up (pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd) instead of the 2003 album Vicious Cycle I dont know as it would have made much more sense to include all 5 albums from the original line up before tragedy struck this amazing band.

Legends really don't come much more legendary than Willie Nelson; and with Ray Charles, B.B. King and Frank Sinatra all gone, Willie is now the last of a dying breed. Not just a singer, but probably the most relaxed-sounding vocalist ever. Willie Nelson is also a damn fine guitarist and he has used the same instrument since 1969 - a Martin N-20 guitar he calls 'Trigger'. And, lest we forget, Willie is also a songwriter of real substance. Over the years, his songs have been recorded by Bob Dylan, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley - and nearly all the songs on this compilation come from the pen of Willie Nelson.
