Subtitled A TRIBUTE TO ITALIAN PROGRESSIVE ROCK OF THE SEVENTIES, this release employs numerous prog artists who were current in 1997 (many of them Italian) to interpret 49 tracks from the classic Italian progressive bands of the 1970's. This release is similar to Musea Records' joint projects with the magazine Collosus, but instead of focusing on epic myths and folk tales, the reference to Zarathustra in this boxed set's title is intended to invoke the name of Museo Rosenbach's groundbreaking release of the same name. Packaged in a large, hardback book-style case, with the first two discs mounted in digi-trays on the left side, and discs 3 and 4 mounted on the right side, there is a colorful, 40 page insert mounted in the middle, which provides discographic information about each of the performing artists, as well as the origins of each track. This project was incredibly well done. With several pages of essays, mostly in Italian (except for a short note in English by Scott McGill of Finneus Gauge), the track listings, and other information is in English. The thick, mounted insert is also well illustrated. Among the artists covered in this collection are Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, Pierrot Lunaire, Quella Vecchia Locanda, Le Orme, Goblin, Osanna, and many others.

After 5,000 concerts around the world, PFM feel the need and the desire to return to the Great Mother Classical music, where the band and the orchestra play respectful of their diversity. The performance of the songs takes advantage of a reduction of the original score, with inserts of original music specially created by PFM. The arrangements do not follow a fixed pattern. PFM is entrusted to the imaginative power of the original writing of the piece, integrating it with its contemporary vision. The choice of the authors so diverse one to each other (Mozart, Verdi, Saint Saens, Prokofiev, Rossini, Dvorak, etc..) has allowed the band to work on a wide range of expressive possibilities.

Tutti sappiamo - o pensiamo di sapere - che cos'è la canzone italiana. Ne parliamo con gli amici guardando Sanremo, la ascoltiamo su Spotify o su vinile, la cantiamo sotto la doccia, la amiamo, la odiamo, o tutt'e due le cose insieme. Ma che cosa rende «italiana» una canzone? «Felicità», siamo tutti d'accordo, suona come una tipica «canzone italiana», al punto che potremmo definirla «all'italiana». E allora «Via con me» di Paolo Conte, coeva eppure lontana miglia e miglia dal successo sanremese di Al Bano e Romina, non lo è? O forse lo è meno, con quello swing americano e quella voce roca? Jacopo Tomatis parte da qui, dal ripensamento delle idee più diffuse sulla canzone italiana («canzone italiana come melodia», «canzone italiana come specchio della nazione», «canzone italiana come colonna sonora del suo tempo»), per scriverne una nuova storia..
