Protein Folding and Misfolding: Shining Light by Infrared Spectroscopy (Repost)

Protein Folding and Misfolding: Shining Light by Infrared Spectroscopy by Heinz Fabian, Dieter Naumann
English | PDF | 2012 | 257 Pages | ISBN : 3642222293 | 15.4 MB

Infrared spectroscopy is a new and innovative technology to study protein folding/misfolding events in the broad arsenal of techniques conventionally used in this field. The progress in understanding protein folding and misfolding is primarily due to the development of biophysical methods which permit to probe conformational changes with high kinetic and structural resolution. The most commonly used approaches rely on rapid mixing methods to initiate the folding event via a sudden change in solvent conditions. Traditionally, techniques such as fluorescence, circular dichroism or visible absorption are applied to probe the process. In contrast to these techniques, infrared spectroscopy came into play only very recently, and the progress made in this field up to date which now permits to probe folding events over the time scale from picoseconds to minutes has not yet been discussed in a book. The aim of this book is to provide an overview of the developments as seen by some of the main contributors to the field.

IR: Theory and Practice of Infrared Spectroscopy

IR: Theory and Practice of Infrared Spectroscopy by Nelson L. Alpert , William E. Keiser , Herman A. Szymanski
English | PDF | 1970 | 509 Pages | ISBN : 1468481622 | 44.1 MB

The first edition of this text was written primarily by one of the present authors (HAS), with a chapter on instrumentation contributed by a second (NLA). The volume was well received, and to keep the text up-to-date a second edition was planned. For this second edition, a third author (WEK) was invited, whose background complemented that of the other two. Each of the authors was assigned several chapters as his primary task while the complete manuscript remained the second ary responsibility of all three.

Near Infrared Detectors Based on Silicon Supersaturated with Transition Metals by Daniel Montero Álvarez
English | PDF | 2021 | 262 Pages | ISBN : 3030638251 | 12.7 MB

This thesis makes a significant contribution to the development of cheaper Si-based Infrared detectors, operating at room temperature. In particular, the work is focused in the integration of the Ti supersaturated Si material into a CMOS Image Sensor route, the technology of choice for imaging nowadays due to its low-cost and high resolution. First, the material is fabricated using ion implantation of Ti atoms at high concentrations.

Mobile Robot Navigation with Intelligent Infrared Image Interpretation by William L. FehlmanII
English | PDF | 2009 | 297 Pages | ISBN : 1848825080 | 13.1 MB

Mobile robots require the ability to make decisions such as "go through the hedges" or "go around the brick wall." Mobile Robot Navigation with Intelligent Infrared Image Interpretation describes in detail an alternative to GPS navigation: a physics-based adaptive Bayesian pattern classification model that uses a passive thermal infrared imaging system to automatically characterize non-heat generating objects in unstructured outdoor environments for mobile robots.
