Ingrid Marsoner dedicates her new recording to Franz Schubert's late piano works and juxtaposes the concert version "Vier Impromptus D 899" with the more intimate and much less frequently played "Three Piano Pieces D 946". The Impromptus D 899 was written in 1827, about a year before Schubert's death and close in time to "Winterreise" D 911. The composer was in a particularly dark mood at the time and certainly did not choose it by chance, and in keeping with the eerie, touching beauty of it Works in such distant keys as G flat major for the third piece.

Following on from her recording of piano concertos by Hummel and Beethoven, Austrian pianist Ingrid Marsoner presents her interpretations of late piano sonatas by Beethoven. Marsoners subtle yet vigorous playing opens the disc with Sonata No. 28 in A major Op. 101. The Rondo alla ingharese, quasi un capriccio Op. 129 is better known by its popular name Rage over a Lost Penny and is an earlier work, as is the 'lighter' Sonata No. 24 in F sharp major Op. 78, which provides a welcome intermezzo and an interesting contrast to the somewhat more profound late sonatas featured. The final track, Sonata No. 32 in C minor Op. 111, symbolises the world and the hereafter with its two very dissenting movements.

A very sensitive pianist, whose specialty is the romantic note. You can not just optically see how she lives the sounds”, writes Wilhelm Sinkovic in the "Presse” about the young pianist Ingrid Marsoner from Graz. These, recently published Ö1-CD records of the Studio Styria prove this critic-comment is not to be seen as exaggerated.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Hector Berlioz's death, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor Philippe Jordan dedicated a programmatic focus to the French composer in the 2018-19 season. In this context, in November 2018, Philippe Jordan presented the frequently performed Symphonie fantastique op. 14 in the Wiener Musikverein, her rarely heard sister work Lélio ou Le retour à la vie op. 14b. The acclaimed concert experience now also appears as a live recording on the orchestra's own label of the orchestra. Soloists include not only tenor Cyrille Dubois and baritone Florian Sempey, but also the acclaimed French bass Jean-Philippe Lafonte as narrator and the Singverein led by Johannes Prinz.
