Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 – June 15, 1996) was an American jazz singer, sometimes referred to as the "First Lady of Song", "Queen of Jazz", and "Lady Ella". She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.

Tenor saxophonist Richard Elliot celebrates his funk and R&B roots on Summer Madness, the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2014 release "Lip Service". Recorded with the members of his touring band, the album's cast includes two other horn players augmenting Elliot's signature sax work: trumpeter and trombonist Rick Braun, who also produced the sessions and, on several tracks, baritone saxophonist Curt Waylee appears. Most importantly though, the songs were created from scratch as Elliot and his musicians formulated and honed their ideas in the studio, with Braun's ultra-capable guidance. For Elliot, recruiting the additional players and having the entire band, plus a respected veteran producer help him shape the music, was integral to the project's success.

Blind from the age of two, a prodigiously gifted student, Jean Langlais (1907-91) produced an immense quantity of music. His organ works alone exceed in number those of of JS Bach. Many have hardly ever been performed. Perhaps not more than half a dozen works are regularly played or recorded today, which is what makes this new complete survey of his organ music – the first ever attempted on record – both unique and invaluable, as the authoritative document of a high point in the distinguished lineage of the French organ heritage.

Éric Heidsieck, gave his first recital at the age of 9 in Reims and his first concert with orchestra a year later. In 1954, he finished the class of Marcel Ciampi in the first place; then took his first lessons with Alfred Cortot at l'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. Parallel to that, he attended the courses of Wilhelm Kempff on L.v. Beethoven in Positano.

Altus, in addition to being a collective, is a relationship between our band and our audience. By engaging in our music the audience creates a shared mythology and community with us. We believe oral traditions, whether musical or mythological, will always vary—performer to performer and performance to performance. Mythos was developed through live performances over the last three years during which storytelling has become an integral part of how we connect with our audience. Mythos takes two important myths relevant to today from Greco Roman and Yoruba cultures and tells them through the lens of Black American music.
