Hugely expanded 3-CD release of action-packed John Barry score to early Marvel Superhero film! When John Barry scored 1986’s Howard The Duck, he recorded vibrant music replete with action-packed battles and heroics, hauntingly beautiful love themes and a plethora of James Bond-ish orchestral dazzle dazzle. Barry even recorded strikingly different versions of several cues to accommodate numerous editorial changes in the film during post-production. Over 100 minutes of original music in all. A monumental scoring achievement! By the time the finished film made it to theaters in 1986, nearly 20 minutes of the scoring for later scenes had been deleted in favor of additional music scored by Sylvester Levay. Enhancing the overall musical approach to Universal’s fantasy vehicle still further were several songs arranged and produced by Thomas Dolby, essential to the antics as they were performed on screen by the all-female rock group Cherry Bomb, the lead singer of which is also the film’s star, Lea Thompson, hot off of her flashy turn in Back To The Future. When MCA Records released the soundtrack on vinyl and cassette, they chose just 40 minutes of music, divided roughly in half between songs and score. Intrada now happily presents all of the music John Barry, Sylvester Levay and Thomas Dolby recorded, spread across 3 CDs, most of it being released for the first time!

Intrada presents the long-sought after expanded edition of The Secret of NIMH (1982). While Intrada's previous edition was slightly expanded, it still came up short around 8 minutes of score due to missing elements. Since that previous release, MGM was able to locate the original 35mm stems that included their own stereo audio music tracks of everything as heard in the film. CD Producer Chris Malone took these new elements and blended them with the rest of the score to create the expanded program including all the bits for which collectors have been pining. As with Intrada's First Blood album, the first disc presents the score in film order, removing much of the album assembly that Goldsmith had prepared for the original album. Disc 2 includes Goldsmith's original album program as he assembled it to preserve all the creative decisions that he made. It's never sounded better. The CD features new cover art by Stéphane COËDEL and an additional Tech Talk by Roger Feigelson.

Bruce Broughton's dynamic action-filled soundtrack for Stephen Hopkin's big-screen treatment of classic Irwin Allen 60's TV series gets deluxe expanded 2-CD release! Famed space family Robinson comes vividly alive courtesy William Hurt as John, Mimi Rogers as Maureen, Heather Graham as Judy, Jack Johnson as Will, Matt LeBlanc as Don, Gary Oldman as Dr. Smith. Involved, darker and more serious story than TV series offered inspired Broughton to create massive, full-blooded symphonic score with one foot in robust action mode, one foot in intense drama mode. Main theme, heard nobly on solo horn at outset of "Main Title", takes off in full throttle fashion for initial launch of Jupiter II.

Without doubt, this is one of the most important recordings of music by Janácek in recent years. Paul Wingfield’s restoration of the original performing version of the Glagolitic Mass is a fine piece of work and deserves to become the standard text. Those familiar with the Mass will notice changes right at the start, where the ‘Intrada’ (normally the conclusion) appears twice, at both the beginning and end. This introduces a number of fundamental alterations to rhythm and instrumentation which make for a markedly different whole: undoubtedly harder to perform, but infinitely sharper in outline.

Knockout '90s action score gets expanded premiere! One of the higher request expansions we have received over the years has finally made it across the finish line! Michael Bay directs, Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer produce for Hollywood Pictures. Sean Connery heads the cast, with Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris, Michael Biehn, William Forsythe supporting. 1996 action classic was a smash box-office hit and dynamic, powerhouse scoring by Nick Glennie-Smith and Hans Zimmer with Harry Gregson-Williams getting in some musical licks was a major ingredient in the film’s success. Trend-setting score features pulsating rhythms to drive action forward, with chopping melodic motifs above that became musical staples in numerous subsequent action movie trailers for years. There is melancholy as well in select moments, but action is keynote. Elements of military heroism and terrorism meld as armed take-over of Alcatraz prison complex known as “The Rock” by rogue group of Marines. San Francisco is the target of deadly VX rockets unless financial demands are met.

Recording ‘Cornerstones – Chamber Music Masterpieces’ has been a labour of love, allowing me to revisit music I first encountered in my student days. Written between 1899 and 1957, these works are not simply trumpet pieces with piano accompaniment, but rather chamber music masterpieces, requiring a true collaboration between trumpeter and pianist. Luisa’s enthusiasm for these cornerstones of any trumpet player’s repertoire has been inspiring, and indeed deepened my understanding of, and appreciation for, this music I have known and loved for so long.

World premiere release of intense, evocative Les Baxter score for famous Roger Corman debut in series of Edgar Allan Poe tales starring Vincent Price, filmed for American International in evocatively-colored widescreen. While original session elements have long-since vanished, complete music tracks mixed into mono and assembled for film do remain. Slight variances in levels designed for later addition of dialog & effects in post-production could not be completely avoided but have been minimized during mastering of this CD. As a result, most cues have identical assemblies of film itself, albeit happily without dialog or effects! (We edited together short pieces to create better musical experience.) Every cue appears! Rare music-only elements survive courtesy MGM vaults, efforts of Taylor White of Percepto Records. Neat bonus! MGM commissioned Chace Productions to restore long-lost original "Overture", previously heard only with initial 1960 release of film in theaters. Chace provided newly-restored master to Intrada for this CD premiere as well!

World premiere release of beautiful (and generously-lengthed) Delerue soundtrack from Bruce Beresford film starring Tom Selleck, Paulina Porizkova, James Farentino. Selleck writes novels about ladykiller detective, searches for inspiration and becomes involved with lovely Porizkova, who just may be a real killer. Flavorful concoction of mystery, suspense, comedy offers Delerue smashing platform for beautiful melodies, mysterious strains, dramatic gestures… all wrapped up in signature manner. With all style of material at his command, it is the beautiful love them that Delerue anchors the score with. And in this regard, the rich "End Credits" sequence remains one of Delerue's choicest of the 1980's. Intrada presents the complete score, including music deleted from the picture, plus composer's own original source music, all from four rolls of original stereo session mixes vaulted in pristine condition by Warner Bros. CD offers full orchestral score first, then three brief transitional cues followed by original "circus style" source music Delerue scored for final Funeral Of Grimaldi sequence featuring numerous clowns. These Delerue taste treat "extras" play as album by themselves, showcasing composer's flair for tuneful writing be it for calliope, brass band, accordion, circus organ or even solo tuba. Positively delightful music! Liner notes by Tim Greiving plus stylish booklet graphics by Joe Sikoryak wrap entire package in nifty fashion! Georges Delerue conducts. The Minnesota Orchestra, one of the leading American orchestras, has often been referred to as the "orchestra on wheels" because of its extensive touring. Its music directors and guest conductors include several very prominent names, and it has been featured on broadcasts and recordings dating back to 1923.
