Irish Rebel Songs

Since the fifth season of the massively popular BAFTA-winning series BBC drama wrapped up, fans are aching for their next hit of Peaky Blinders. On November 15, UMe will release the first-ever official soundtrack to the series (currently available on BBC's iPlayer and on Netflix in more than 100 countries outside of the U.K.) that has captivated audiences across the globe. The soundtrack will be available on 2CD, 3LP and digital.

The sole album of this great, but underrated British progressive band was released in 1971 by MCA Records. Decorated with colourful art deco-style cover, this beautiful but largely unknown LP was inspired mostly by early Yes, Rare Bird and Caravan albums, although the band had much more to offer. The quartet presented a cleverly arranged, progressive songs (usually lasted 5-6 minutes), sometimes even touching on pop music… The sound of Gringo was very melodic and enjoyable combinadon of classical music-influenced electric piano & Hammond organ passages, sharp, electric guitar leads, powerful rhythm section and very fine female (and sometimes male) harmony vocals. After a break up the bass player John G. Perry became the member of Spreadeagle and Caravan.

The series was revived as "AM Gold" in 1995, with a different cover design (early volumes had an artist's drawing of a pocket transistor radio, with later volumes bearing a "gold record" with the year or era spotlighted emblazoned over the top). The first 20 volumes were re-titled issues of volumes from the former "Super Hits" series with identical track lineups, while new volumes covering the mid- and late-1970s (including individual volumes for each of the years 1974-1979) were included.

Pendragon will release a brand new album, Love Over Fear, in February 2020. The new album will be released as a special edition, coming in a hardback book measuring 285mm x 285mm (like the band's recently released First 40 Years) and containing 3 CDs featuring the main album, an acoustic version with orchestral and extended versions and an instrumental version of the album. The artwork has been supplied by local Cornwall artists Liz Saddington.
