"The years spent by Robert Schumann and his Clara in Dresden were a time of perfect happiness, and in 1849 the composer, like a teenager, presented his dearest with a Romanze pervaded by intense passion. An outstanding recording of Schumann’s complete works for violoncello and piano from this time transports us up to the couple’s seventh heaven. The Schumann specialist Aya Ishihara plays Clara’s role at a Steinway grand piano (1901), and her experienced duo partner Klaus Storck is heard as the emotionally profound cellist playing an Italian “Spiritus Sorsana” cello (made in 1730 in Cunei)…"

Norwegian rock trio Cakewalk's third album, 'Ishihara', follows the highly acclaimed 'Wired' (2012) and 'Transfixed' (2014)." The music seems to exist in a state of continual convulsion, repeatedly contracting and relaxing as if responding to electrical stimulus or some deep biological need.

A playfully eccentric, pulsating mass of precarious polyrhythms and DIY drones, Takkak Takkak is a brand new project from prolific Berlin-based Japanese producer Shigeru Ishihara (aka Scotch Rolex) and Vilnius-based Indonesian composer and instrument builder Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi, best known as one half of Raja Kirik. The duo found common ground with their borderless enthusiasm for rhythm - hence their tongue-in-cheek, onomatopoeic moniker - and tasked themselves with hacking contemporary and traditional musics, fusing eardrum-piercing club sounds with wiry Asian traditional patterns and howling vocals. And although there are discernible fingerprints from across the musical map, Ishihara and Pribadi debut a sound that's doggedly unconventional.
