Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of the three classic albums by legendary British Jazz Rock group Isotope. The band was formed in 1973 by guitarist Gary Boyle and also featured Jeff Clyne on bass, Brian Miller on keyboards and Nigel Morris on drums. Jeff Clyne had previously played with Ian Carr's Nucleus, whilst Gary Boyle had played with Stomu Yamashta's East Wind. Isotope's self titled debut album was released in 1974 and continued the tradition of Jazz Rock fusion that had been pioneered by acts such as Tony Williams Lifetime and The Mahavishnu Orchestra. This Esoteric Recordings reissues has been newly remastered and features a booklets with new essay.

Gary Boyle formed the jazz-rock band, Isotope, in 1973, recruiting three other stalwarts from the jazz field; Nigel Morris, Brian Miller & Jeff Clyne (ex Nucleus). Gary and Nigel had previously been part of Stomu Yamash'ta's band, East Wind. Prior to that, Gary had worked with Dusty Springfield, Brian Auger & Julie Driscoll. Isotope released three albums during the mid 70s, which gained wide acclaim and favourable comparisons with John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra. This compilation is comprised of an Isotope BBC concert and an Old Grey Whistle Test show, plus a Gary Boyle session recorded for John Peel. None of these recordings have ever been released before. The accompanying 8 page booklet includes a brief note from Gary Boyle plus extensive liner notes, including an interview with Gary, and several rare band photographs.

Golden Section is over 65' of all unreleased material, taken from 3 different dates, all from the period when Hugh was a part of the band and lent his strongly distinctive style to the group; from the opening notes of the album, it's readily apparent that Hugh Hopper is in the house. More than half the CD is a program recorded by Radio Bremen in Germany for broadcast. During this time, the band included a fifth member, percussionist Aureo de Souza, who played with the group for several months during spring/summer 1975 and added a definite Weather Report-inspired flair, but whose tenure with the group has never before been documented on record or heard!
