Jack Johnson accepted the challenge of writing a collection of children's songs to accompany the animated film version of Curious George released in 2006. The resulting soundtrack album went to number one in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and became a US million seller. Since Curious George doesn't speak in the movie, the monkey's voice is only heard through Johnson's songs. This required Johnson to research the perspective of an inquisitive monkey. After reading the screenplay, he studied sketches of Curious George until the music came to him. Guests include Ben Harper, G. Love and Matt Costa.

With his barbed-wire guitar work and hearty vocal on a marathon rendition of "Catfish Blues," Johnson hauls the time-honored Delta tradition into contemporary blues. The entire album is an eminently solid, doggedly down-home affair, though nothing else quite measures up to the powerhouse attack of that one vicious workout.

Jack Johnson's "To The Sea" debuted at number one in the US in 2010 and topped the charts in five other countries. Recorded again in two solar-powered studios, the material on this album broadened out the range of instrumentation with more electric guitar and was even a bit heavier than what was expected from Johnson. Nonetheless fans embraced this new sound, giving Johnson another US gold and Canadian platinum album. G. Love guests on harmonica on two tracks.

For the first time in his career Jack Johnson recorded outside of his home turf of Hawaii. He picked a location no less sunny, however: a solar-powered studio in Los Angeles. While the location might have been different, the outcome was the same: another smash hit for Johnson, another million-seller in the US and another number one album in six countries. Sleep Through The Static took on a darker, more sombre tone as Johnson dedicated the album to his late cousin and wrote about feelings of grief and loss he was experiencing.

Multi-platinum musician Jack Johnson releases a new studio album, Meet The Moonlight. Johnson’s eighth studio album and first full-length release in five years, was produced by Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Perfume Genius, Jim James) and recorded both in Los Angeles (at Sound City and EastWest) and The Mango Tree (Johnson’s studio in Hawaii). The creation process marks a major artistic milestone from past work, taking shape from a one-on-one collaboration with Mills (whose contributions included everything from fretless guitar to Moog synth to steel drums) and unveiled an intimate and highly experimental process that involved embedding Johnson’s elegantly stripped-back arrangements with enchanting sonic details.

Jack Hody Johnson is Hawaii-born singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is known primarily for his work in the soft rock and acoustic genres. The title On And On is an apt description of Jack Johnson's sales and chart triumphs with this album. Johnson's second release was his second million-selling album in the US, also certified platinum in the UK and gold in Canada. The success of his debut was a long, slow build, taking time for word to spread. So lots of fans were primed for this follow-up in 2003 which wasn't a vast departure musically from the breezy, laid-back acoustic tunes of the debut, although some of the songs touched on more serious topical issues like materialism in America and war.

Jack Johnson, later reissued as A Tribute to Jack Johnson, is a 1971 studio album and soundtrack by American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis. In 1970, Davis was asked by boxing promoter Bill Cayton to record music for a documentary he was producing, on the life of boxer Jack Johnson. Johnson's saga resonated personally with the musician, who wrote in the album's liner notes of Johnson's mastery as a boxer, his affinity for fast cars, jazz, clothes, and beautiful women, his unreconstructed blackness, and his threatening image to white men. This was the second film score Davis had composed, after Ascenseur pour l'échafaud in 1957.

"A Tribute to Jack Johnson" is a soundtrack composed by Miles Davis to accompany a documentary film about the life of boxer Jack Johnson. For the score, Davis said he wanted to put together what he called "the greatest rock and roll band you have ever heard." The line-up featured John McLaughlin and Sonny Sharrock (guitars), Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea (keyboards), Bennie Maupin (clarinet), and Jack DeJohnette and Billy Cobham (drums). Produced by Teo Macero, the soundtrack was recorded in two sessions between February and April of 1970. Both sessions took place at the 30th Street Studio in New York City.
