2013 sophomore album from the British singer/songwriter. The album shares its title with the Malibu studio where it was made, once the '70s haven of Bob Dylan and The Band, now the creative hub of legendary producer Rick Rubin, the recording titan whose jaw dropping c.v. spans from Def Jam and Johnny Cash to Adele and Kanye West. Rubin's assembled wrecking crew of "Shangri La" session regulars includes guitarist Matt Sweeney, bassist Jason Lader, and drummers Chad Smith and Pete Thomas.

Hearts That Strain was recorded in Nashville and features the breezy single 'How Soon The Dawn', a collaboration with Dan Auerbach. Working with Grammy Award winning producer David Ferguson and Matt Sweeney, Jake recorded the album in Nashville with some of the best players in the history of popular music. As part of American Sound Studio's legendary house band The Memphis Boys, Gene Chrisman and Bobby Woods provided the chops on such pivotal records as Dusty In Memphis, In The Ghetto, Suspicious Minds and Dark End Of The Street, cutting their teeth in sessions with Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick. "They're old guys but they're amazing," Jake says.

Friday On My Mind is the first North American album from The Easybeats. The album was released as Good Friday in Europe, in the same month. This version omitted "Hound Dog" and replaced it with "Women" (re-titled "Make You Feel Alright (Women)") from the Australian It's 2 Easy album. A 1992 Repertoire CD release, under the same title and cover art as the North American album, has the track listing of the European Good Friday album.
