With the emergence of Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience during the late '60s, the path was cleared for other hard-rockin' "trios." Arguably, the finest to emerge from the subsequent American crop was the James Gang. Despite penning a few of classic rock radio's most enduring songs, the James Gang ultimately failed to deliver on their initial promise, as constant lineup juggling ultimately derailed the group. The Gang's roots stretch back to 1966 in Cleveland, OH, where drummer Jim Fox formed the group with a few fellow Kent State University students, guitarist Glenn Schwartz and bassist Tom Kriss. But when Schwartz left to join Pacific Gas & Electric, Fox and Kriss opted to carry on with new singer/guitarist Joe Walsh. The James Gang's debut album, Yer' Album, followed in 1969, and while it didn't spawn any hits, it did set the stage perfectly for their next few releases.

Like Bang before it, Miami was a success solely because of the presence of guitarist Tommy Bolin. Bolin's energetic, muscular playing reinvigorated the James Gang, sparking the rest of the band into giving lively performances. Again, there was a noticeable lack of memorable songs, but Miami is worthwhile for guitar aficionados. ~Allmusic

A throwback! A blast from the past – in the best possible sense! Toe-tapping, air-drumming, ‘70s style blues-rock is back courtesy of Moonstone Project. Moonstone Project is a “traditional” or “classic” rock supergroup based in Italy. The heart and soul of the band is guitar master Matt Filippini (Blue Oyster Cult, Glenn Hughes, etc.), and he’s pulled together a diverse group of musicians from around to world to kick classic blues-based rock back into the spotlight. The brand new 2009 album featuring GLENN HUGHES, CLIVE BUNKER, JAMES CHRISTIAN, IAN PAICE, KEN HENSLEY and more!!! A true Classic Rock masterpiece!

Ringo Starr is a living legend whose contribution to the roots of Rock and Roll is immeasurable, not only as a Beatle, but also through his prolific and successful solo career. In gathering a new group of iconic rockers to play as the All Starr band each tour, every configuration offers a new and memorable moment where we get to experience songs we all know and love. 'Ringo At The Ryman,' filmed on July 7, 2012, celebrates Ringo's birthday with an extra special line-up touching on some unforgettable hits spanning 4 decades – from Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Mark Rivera (Billy Joel), Gregg Rollie (Journey, Santana), Todd Rundgren and Gregg Bissonette. The set list is undeniably familiar: 'It Don't Come Easy,' 'Act Naturally,' 'Photograph,' 'I Wanna Be Your Man,' 'Yellow Submarine,' and his bandmates contributions 'Roseanna,' 'Black Magic Woman,' 'Kyrie Elaison,' 'Bang the Drum All Day,' and so many more.

After performing in a variety of bands since the late '60s, Bolin finally released his first solo album in 1975. Teaser is an impressive display of the guitarist's prowess & range, and is a natural progression from the previous Bolin-dominated James Gang albums Bang & Miami and his work with drummer Billy Cobham. The album features heavy doses of jazz-rock fusion (furthered by guests Jan Hammer, Dave Sanborn, & Michael Walden) in the instrumentals 'Homeward Strut' & 'Marching Powder', and straight-ahead rock in tracks like 'The Grind'. Bolin was always equally adept at subtleties, and the ballad 'Dreamer', and the exotic 'Savannah Woman' (with percussion from Phil Collins) represent this stylistic range here. Overshadowed historically by his guitar dynamics, Bolin's understated yet strong vocals are another selling point. Teaser is a stronger album than its one successor, the uneven 'Private Eyes', and survives as Bolin's signature work. Still a great pleasure to listen to and one of my all time favorite albums !!

Alexander James "Alex" Harvey (5 February 1935 – 4 February 1982) was a Scottish blues/rock musician. Although Harvey's career spanned almost three decades he is best remembered as the frontman of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, with whom he built a reputation as an exciting live performer during the era of glam rock in the 1970s.
