The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra has vaulted into the top rank of international symphonic ensembles with a strong commitment to contemporary music, a sequence of conductors from outside Norway, and a growing catalog of recordings. Yet this growth developed organically from the orchestra's longstanding roots.

Joining forces again for their second album on Signum Classics, duo Julian Bliss, clarinet and ames Baillieu, piano perform works by composer giants Clara & Robert Schumann. Many of the tracks on this recording are new arrangements by Bliss himself, and world premiere recordings.

The James Taylor Quarter were the original group on the Acid Jazz scene, and In The Hand Of The Inevitable was their 1995 triumphant Top 40 return to the Acid Jazz label. Recorded over a year, produced by James Taylor and Acid Jazz Records founder Eddie Piller, it was a thrilling compendium of everyone's favorite musical influences, from Hammond grooves, funk rock, and Mizell Brothers inspired fusion.

Ralph Vaughan Williams loved Shakespeare, and it inspired his music throughout his long composing career. This album is a collection of some of that music, much of it now heard for the first time.

The album was almost entirely recorded by James himself, in the small Scottish fishing village of Cellardyke, where he lives. Yorkston's studio is a ramshackle old loft space, originally used to repair fisherman's nets, and now stuffed full the antique instruments James has collected throughout his life as a musician.
