Christmas has provided a rich seam of subject matter for songwriters to mine over the years, building on a significant repertoire of carols and other religious songs in the traditional arena, and an ever-growing catalogue of secular songs for people to enjoy during a season when music has always been an essential element of the festivities. In the era of the commercial record sales charts, the competition for that elusive Christmas No. 1 hit has often been intense, and some notable seasonal hits have been major sellers over the years.

It's hard to believe 12 years have passed since Pet Projects: The Brian Wilson Productions, one of Ace's first releases in their much-admired Producers series. Not before time, Wilson now joins such greats as Randy Newman, Laura Nyro, Goffin & King, Dan Penn, Bacharach & David, Jackie DeShannon and Serge Gainsbourg in their equally high profile Songwriters series. The collection opens with 'Do You Have Any Regrets?' by Darian Sahanaja of the Wondermints, a rare composition from Wilson's unissued Sweet Insanity album of the early 90s. While Wilson's version was a rather frantic latin-styled piece, Sahanaja's recording is an homage to the 1965-era Beach Boys.

The album is the tenth by the band, and featured the hit single "Barbara Ann". The album peaked at #6 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and although it was recorded in a studio, was meant to sound like it was an impromptu live recording of a party. Newly remastered for vinyl and in hi-res by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, Beach Boys Party! is presented here in stereo.

Cruising Christmas is a 2012 2CD compilation of primal Christmas and holiday music from the vaults of good times, classic rock & roll oldies from the 1950's and early 1960's. This was relesed by EMI Sweden.

Beach Boys' Party! is the tenth studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, and their third in 1965, consisting mostly of cover songs played with acoustic instruments. The album was recorded in a music studio and presented as an impromptu live recording of a party, with informal chatter by friends and family overdubbed later. The record company, Capitol, wanted an album for the holiday season, but as there was no new material ready, several options were considered, including a greatest hits album and a live album, before the band decided on the party theme. The Beach Boys covered songs by the Beatles, several doo-wop groups, Bob Dylan, and the Everly Brothers.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 release of the Beach Boys' top 10 album "Party!", group members have overseen this remixed, remastered and expanded edition, "Beach Boys' Party! Uncovered And Unplugged", which removes the overdubbed party sounds from the 12-track original album's mix and adds 69 more songs and dialogue tracks culled from all of the band's Party! recording sessions.

Released in November 1965 as a filler to meet Christmas demand, the Beach Boys convened in the studio with some friends, some acoustic instruments and a batch of cover songs to record this album intended to sound like there was a party going on. The covers include several songs by the Beatles, a Bob Dylan tune, some vintage rock 'n' roll and a version of Barbara Ann by The Regents, a surprise hit single for the Beach Boys that peaked at number two in the US and number three in the UK. This version contains both the mono and stereo mixes of the album.
