EAC Rip | FLAC (tracks, cue, log) - 1.2 GB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps - 541 MB
3:56:38 | Acoustic, Pop, Rock | Label: Virgin

Triple-disc collection from Virgin Records featuring acoustic tracks from Al Stewart, America, Bert Jansch, Bob Dylan, Buffy Saint-Marie, David Gray, Don McLean, Kirsty MacColl, Gary Jules, Rickie Lee Jones, Paul Mc Cartney, Tracy Chapman, Jim Croce and many more. 2004.
Here’s a 65 track, 3 x CD compilation of ‘acoustic’ tracks from the 1950s through to the early 2000s. By far, one of the best compilations out there with well known hits brilliantly placed together with lesser known classics that didn’t always trouble the chart placings. There certainly isn’t a ‘filler’ track on any of the discs and even the more ‘folky’ disc 3 is superbly constructed to keep the listener enthralled throughout.

Notwithstanding one or two isolated exceptions, it wasn’t until the mid-Sixties that independent female voices really began to be heard within the music industry. The feminist movement naturally coincided with the first signs of genuine musical emancipation. In North America, Joan Baez and Buffy Sainte-Marie emerged through the folk clubs, coffee-houses and college campuses to inspire a generation of wannabe female singers and musicians with their strong, independent mentality and social compassion, while the British scene’s combination of folk song revival and the Beatles-led pop explosion saw record company deals for a new generation of pop-folkies including Marianne Faithfull, Dana Gillespie and Vashti Bunyan.

The series was revived as "AM Gold" in 1995, with a different cover design (early volumes had an artist's drawing of a pocket transistor radio, with later volumes bearing a "gold record" with the year or era spotlighted emblazoned over the top). The first 20 volumes were re-titled issues of volumes from the former "Super Hits" series with identical track lineups, while new volumes covering the mid- and late-1970s (including individual volumes for each of the years 1974-1979) were included.

Most Kiss fans associate Gene Simmons with the band's hardest-rocking compositions; after all, he's responsible for such heavies as "Watchin' You," "Calling Dr. Love," "Larger Than Life," and "Goin' Blind." So many Kiss fans must have been surprised when they heard Gene's diverse 1978 solo album, with songs that contained choirs and string arrangements, plus elements of Beatles pop, '70s funk/disco, and feel-good rock & roll…
