The Zealot Gene is the 22nd studio album by the British rock band Jethro Tull, released on 28 January 2022 by Inside Out Music. Nearly five years in production, it is their first studio album since The Jethro Tull Christmas Album (2003), and their first of all original material since J-Tull Dot Com (1999), marking the longest gap between the band's studio albums…

SUPERB RADIO BROADCAST FROM TULL’S ‘A’ TOUR • Jethro Tull’s 13th studio album, A, was released on 29 August 1980 in the UK and 1 September in the United States. Initially written and recorded with the intention of being frontman Ian Anderson's debut solo effort (hence the album's title: the master tapes were marked "A" for Anderson during recording), however the record was eventually released as a Tull album after pressure from Chrysalis Records. Anderson has since stated that he regrets allowing the album to be released under the Jethro Tull name. • Presenting a departure from prior Tull works, the new recordings adopted more of an electronic rock sound with heavy use of synthesizers, although still retaining the band's trademark folk influence and Anderson's flute playing.

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
SONGS FROM THE WOOD, from 1977, is one of my favourite Jethro Tull discs, and represents a brilliant return to form, after the previous year's disappointing TOO OLD TO ROCK AND ROLL.

MAGNIFICENT COME-BACK SHOW FROM A REVAMPED JETHRO TULL • Following throat problems suffered by Ian Anderson - which he developed singing the demanding Under Wraps material on Jethro Tull’s 1984 tour - and generally poor reviews for Under Wraps and the band’s previous two records, Tull took a three-year break following the tour. Jethro Tull returned in 1987 with Crest of a Knave. With keyboardist Peter Vettese having now quit and the band relying more heavily on Martin Barre's electric guitar than they had since the early 1970s, the album was a critical and commercial success. Shades of their earlier electronic excursions were still present, however, as three of the album's songs again used a drum machine, with Doane Perry and Gerry Conway sharing drum duties on the other tracks.

Enhance your experience of Magnetic Eye Records and friends, who are respectfully paying homage to British rock legends JETHRO TULL and their 1971 milestone album with "Aqualung Redux", by adding even more deep cuts and classics that are offered on the companion album "Best of Jethro Tull Redux". JETHRO TULL are musical giants with a unique sound - or rather sounds that have remained singular in the canon of rock music. Founded in Blackpool, Lancashire, in 1967 by the Scotsman Ian Anderson, the band has undergone several stylistic shifts and changes of image during their still ongoing career of many decades. Yet largely due to the characteristic voice of their frontman and the inclusion of a flute as an essential instrument, JETHRO TULL have always had an inimitable and easily recognisable trademark sonic fingerprint.

This mid-'90s Tull studio album has its good moments, mostly shadows of earlier work. All of the songs here have more of a mood of urgency than some of Tull's then-recent albums..

Where the first Jethro Tull box five years earlier, 20 Years of Jethro Tull, mostly traded on radio broadcast performances and rarities, a few outtakes, and a remastered collection of key songs, 25th Anniversary Boxed Set benefits from a more thorough raid on the vaults that has yielded up one essential addition to any Jethro Tull collection. Disc two is the centerpiece of the set, containing an additional hour of the group's November 4, 1970 concert at Carnegie Hall in New York (two pieces were previously issued on Living in the Past). Preserved on a 16-track master tape, this benefit show for the drug rehabilitation program Phoenix House was the group's most prominent American gig up to that time…
