Some 27 years after his premature death in London, at the age of 27, Jimi Hendrix has become one of rock music's biggest icons, a legendary musician whose recording legacy has continued to influence successive generations of aspiring guitarists. During his all-too-brief career, Hendrix released just four albums, including 1967's Are You Experienced and Axis Bold As Love, and 1970's Band Of Gypsies, all of which have since then become recognised as important milestones in the history of rock music.

Part 5 of 11 includes "Isle Of Wight".

In the spring of 1968, the Miami Pop Festival became the first major multi-day rock festival to be held on the East Coast in the wake of 1967's groundbreaking Monterey Pop Festival. The Jimi Hendrix Experience had been the breakthrough act that wowed audiences at Monterey, so promoter Michael Lang (who would help put together the Woodstock Music and Art Fair a year later) persuaded Hendrix to headline the Miami event. Hendrix, who was recording Electric Ladyland at the time, brought along recording engineer Eddie Kramer to tape his gig in Miami, and while Hendrix's set has circulated for years as a bootleg, Miami Pop Festival finally gives this performance an authorized release, with Kramer mixing the 45-year-old tapes.

Guitar Tablature or TAB is the most common method of writing out music for the guitar. It is different from classical music notation in that, TAB uses ordinary numbers and keyboard characters as opposed to standard musical notation which uses symbols. Because of this format, anyone with a computer can write or read TAB making it the most user friendly way to read and communicate guitar music. Also TAB relates directly to the fret board of your guitar, meaning that you may easily see where you put your fingers.
