As the title implies, "Last Spring" is a revisiting of the joys of springtime. It is not an exulting, whirling awakening, but a sustained, minimalistic meditation, oriented strongly towards the details, the variance of the melodies and the breadth and beauty of the sound. It is based on the most perfect interaction possible: soft piano melts into the pizzicato melodies that Henning Kraggerud entices out of his 1744 Guarneri violin, his Harald Lund viola and his unique six-stringed viola Concorda.

Hélène Grimaud, who has lived with the early D minor Concerto for decades, has called Brahms’s Op 15 ‘a piece I need to survive’. Indeed, she recorded it with that kind of urgency for Erato back in 1997 with Kurt Sanderling and the Staatskapelle Berlin, her passion making up for the lack in sheer power you’d find in accounts by the likes of Brendel or Pollini.

Deutsche Grammophon's iconic artist Anne-Sophie Mutter is breaking new grounds with "Live from Yellow Lounge". The album was recorded not in a typical grand concert hall, but rather in the Yellow Lounge, a tiny, graffiti-scrawled nightclub in Berlin.
