Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1997 album by the Hard Rock outfit. Led by ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham, 21 Guns consisted of Leif Johansen (bass), Michael Sturgis (drums), and Tommy LaVerdi (vocals). 1992 saw the release of 21 Guns' debut recording, SALUTE, to critical acclaim, but after touring the record Gorham put the group on hold for several years as he performed in several tribute shows worldwide for late Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott. In 1997, Gorham resuscitated the band and the group issued second album, NOTHING'S REAL, which included a cover of the underrated Lizzy nugget, 'King's Vengeance' (a tune which originally appeared on the 1975 release FIGHTING and co-written by Gorham).
If you're going to listen to the Allman Brothers, make sure you have the first four records. The band made The Allman Brothers Band, Idlewild South, At Fillmore East, and three-fourths of Eat a Peach with its original lineup, before Duane Allman's fatal motorcycle accident in 1971. The Tom Dowd-produced Idlewild South, their second album, comes off with a little less ferocity than their debut – which is perhaps the result of reaching for new sounds the second time around…
Norwegian smooth jazz composer Tom Hansen has produced a vocal album dedicated to Earth, Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, Chicago, Michael McDonald and others. This is my 6th work, and it was my first appearance in Japan from [Light Mellow Searches] supervised by me. Contains 19 songs, which is rare these days. You can listen to the finest AOR ~ Blue Eyed Soul ~ Fusion until you're full.
Recorded Live in Homedale New Jersey August 16 1994. The story of the Allman Brothers Band is one of triumph, tragedy, redemption, dissolution, and more redemption. During the early '70s, they were arguably the most influential rock group in America, thanks in no small part to At Fillmore East (a high-water mark for concert albums), that redefined the scope of rock's musical boundaries. Duane Allman and Dickey Betts pioneered the twin-lead guitar sound so prevalent during the decade that continued well into the 21st century.
Director Gale Edwards's film is an updated stage version of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's acclaimed masterpiece. Experience the last seven days in the earthly life of Jesus through the magic and wonder of a catchy and inspirational score. From his triumphant entry into Jerusalem and the enmity that this naturally arouses to his trial by the sympathetic but ultimately partisan Pontius Pilate, follow Christ as he assumes the role he was born to play.
Whereas most great live rock albums are about energy, At Fillmore East is like a great live jazz session, where the pleasure comes from the musicians' interaction and playing. The great thing about that is, the original album that brought the Allmans so much acclaim is as notable for its clever studio editing as it is for its performances…
Dutch group Golden Earring has always inhabited a strange and twisted territory between hard rock and straight-ahead pop that's also home to Blue Oyster Cult and modern acts like Monster Magnet. On Bloody Buccaneers, Golden Earring doesn't come up with any real surprises, but manages to deliver a surprisingly consistent record of the same sort of hooky, roots-influenced heavy guitar music that made the band famous. Despite the lack of any songs as good as "Radar Love," Golden Earring's career-making mega-hit, the material is pretty decent and played with panache. Barry Hay's powerful vocals are still wonderfully sandpaper tough and George Kooymans' guitar playing is as ballsy and filled with punk rock 'tude as ever.
