Victim of Love, released in 1979, is the thirteenth official album release for Elton John. It is a disco album, released shortly after the peak of disco’s popularity. The title track of the album was moderately successful as a single. It reached No. 31 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and No. 46 in Canada. When the album was released as a CD in the 1980s, the track breaks were incorrect. The first 45 seconds of "Spotlight" is part of the previous track, and similar errors occur in other tracks as well. The album was reissued in a digitally remastered format in 2003, with these issues corrected, and with improved sound and instrumental setup.

In addition to their latest Intertel video release the HMC label have announced their next CD release, ‘1974 L.A. Jam sessions’ – For those of you that enjoyed ‘A Toot and a Snore’,
the Mistral label release from the CD bootlegs heyday that featured John Lennon and a cast of many sloshing about in the record plant in L.A. in the middle of John’s ‘lost weekend’.
Variously drunken, rude and sloppy in equal measures, this was one release that gave a fly on the walls overview of Lennon and chums, ‘letting their hair down’.
This new release features a new transfer of that tape which extends the recording but a few seconds at either side, the rest of the two disk set features yet another session at the studios
while recording Harry Nilson’s ‘Pussy Cats’ album with a different set of characters including Simon and Garfunkel turned up to play.

From the haunting, funereal bells and emotional wails of opening track “Mother,” it was immediate – John Lennon’s first solo studio album was unlike anything he had made before. Recorded in 1970, shortly after the demise of The Beatles, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band saw John stripping away the artifice and ornamentation for a visceral artistic exorcism that was confessional, raw, painfully honest, and revelatory. Inspired by the primal scream psychotherapy he and wife Yoko Ono had been practicing with Dr. Arthur Janov, John, joined by the minimalist Plastic Ono Band – Ringo Starr on drums and Klaus Voormann on bass, and producer Phil Spector – confronted his demons, professed his love for his wife, railed against false idols and declared the dream was over on his most personal album. Today it stands as the towering achievement of his solo career – the moment the biggest rock star in the world bared his soul for all to hear – as real as it was revolutionary.

Joe Harriott's music goes virtually unheard today, yet the alto saxophonist exerted a powerful influence on early free jazz in England. The Jamaican-born and raised Harriott played with his countrymen, trumpeter Dizzy Reece and tenor saxophonist Wilton "Bogey" Gaynair, before emigrating to England in 1951. In London, Harriott worked freelance and in the band of trumpeter Pete Pitterson. In 1954, he landed an important gig with drummer Tony Kinsey; the next year he played in saxophonist Ronnie Scott's big band.
