José Carreras, one of the legendary "Three Tenors," was born Josep Carreras (Josep is his Catalan name, the equivalent of the Castilian Spanish José) in Barcelona in 1946. He began singing at a very early age; family lore holds that he serenaded passengers on a voyage home from Argentina when he was only five. Régine Crespin Notwithstanding her great success in the German repertory, Régine Crespin was quintessentially a French artist. With an unmistakable sensuality betraying her origins in Mediterranean France, she was guided by an unfailing sense of elegance. Whether as Kundry, the Marschallin, Carmen, Didon, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, or Sieglinde, her large, lush voice was deployed with refined abandon. Her top register, powerful and soaring when it was working as the singer wished, sometimes emerged congested, as tones that began as clarion would cloud over and lose their cutting edge. As it became increasingly problematic, Crespin looked toward roles only equivocally soprano, where she could rely on the luxurious amplitude of her middle and lower registers. Her Carmen, presented at the Metropolitan Opera in 1975 after a period of vocal restudy and a loss of weight, was distinctive for its subtle danger and meticulous delivery of text and vocal line. Following studies at the Paris Conservatoire with Georges Jouatte and celebrated bass Paul Cabanel, Crespin made her debut in 1950 singing Elsa at Mulhouse. In August of that same year, she appeared for the first time at the Paris Opéra, the role once again being Elsa.

Traidores Ha sido un trabajo muy especial por la relación que me une a Jon, y por el reto de poner música a una película documental con tanta carga emocional. Una mezcla de tragedia mezclada con la comedia de lo cotidiano. Spanish Jose Padilla was seduced by the idea of becoming a DJ while working as a waiter in Barcelona, moving to Ibiza, known as the White Island, in 1975, Padilla soon got involved in the local night club circuit. In 1991 Cafe del Mar gave him the opportunity he was waiting for, producing an acclaimed collection of club/dance records during the 1990s. After issuing his solo debut album called Souvenir, Jose Padila recorded Navigator, an experimental album featuring songs by Seal and N'Dea Davenport, released by DRO East West in 2001.
