"Loving and Free" is the 3rd album by English singer Kiki Dee released in 1973 on The Rocket Record Company label. It was recorded at the AIR Studios and Nova Studios in London between April 28 and June 22, 1973. "Loving and Free" has masterful production by Elton John and Clive Franks, and if anything, it is as lovingly produced as it is performed. One of four strong Kiki Dee originals is the title track, which opens up this soulful album, reflected so beautifully in the cover photo of young Dee on a bicycle with flowers in a field. It's reminiscent of Lesley Duncan's "Love Song," and lo and behold, Duncan shows up on backing vocals on the very next song, "If It Rains." Elton John plays keyboards on seven of the ten tracks, including the short gospel piece "If It Rains," written by Dee, and the Bernie Taupin/Elton John number "Lonnie and Josie."

Happily Kiki Dee received her reward during the 70's Rocket period and that no.1 with Elton John. She had certainly paid her dues during the previous decade with some sonorous session BVs for many in Uk Pop, plus a string of superlative singles for Fontana. Much sought after for their consistent high standard of performance. Kiki is recognised as one of the few Uk singers, alongside her friend and colleague Dusty Springfield, with the capacity to interpret soulfully. She wrings everything out of the songs she was given .

Deluxe two CD edition. Kiki Dee's second album for Elton John's Rocket Records label was produced by Elton's producer, the legendary Gus Dudgeon. Released in September 1974, and credited to The Kiki Dee Band, the album starts with the title track, a Top 20 hit for Kiki and the band, and a perennial favorite. The songwriting credits are shared between Kiki and keyboard player Bias Boshell. In this special 2CD set, CD1 features the original album, while bonus CD2 contains the five non-album A- and B-sides, and PWL's Phil Harding's previously unreleased mixes of "I've Got The Music In Me". The two CDs are presented in brand new seven-inch deluxe gatefold packaging, with an 8- page booklet which includes the lyrics and credits.
