Memphis Minnie was the greatest 'woman with guitar'! She played with great musicians like Casey Bill Weldon, Kansas Joe McCoy and Little Son Joe, who also became her husbands. In the 1920s, she also played with Willie Brown, Robert Johnson's 'Friend Boy'. Her hits were 'Bumble Bee', 'Me and My Chauffeur Blues' and many more! On this CD are her best recordings from the 1930s to the 1950s. The great Bukka White said: She was about the best thing goin´in the woman line.

The question could be whether this album is really that extraordinary. To answer that question before going into details: yes it is. Even if you already own Gentleman's studio albums, "Trodin On" and "Journey To Jah", this is a live album you want to own… I do recommend this disc to everyone, a must have, check "Gentleman's website" for more on this great artist and his releases.

Talking Heads were an American rock band formed in 1975 in New York City and active until 1991. The band comprised David Byrne (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Frantz (drums), Tina Weymouth (bass), and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar). Described by the critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine as "one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s", the group helped to pioneer new wave music by integrating elements of punk, art rock, funk, and world music with avant-garde sensibilities and an anxious, clean-cut image.

First, a few myths get cleared up by the very existence of this box, which goes far beyond the original Columbia compilations with the same name. For starters, Columbia goes a long way to setting the record straight that Charlie Christian was not the first electric guitarist or the first jazz guitarist or the first electric guitarist in jazz. For another, they concentrate on only one thing here: documenting Christian's seminal tenure with Benny Goodman's various bands from 1939-1941. While in essence, that's all there really is, various dodgy compilations have been made advertising Christian playing with Lester Young or Lionel Hampton.
