One of the minds behind the Samurai Of Prog project, Kimmo Pörsti brought us his latest release "Past And Present" out on Seacrest Oy. Released as his solo album but with a large number of guests inside, which more or less all revolve around the projects of Kimmo and co. All his musical skills are portrayed here with the instrumental tracks ranging from symphonic prog to fusion to folk. As with The Samurai Of Prog releases artwork is by Ed Unitsky with a lush 20 page booklet.

The Samurai Of Prog, this time namely bassist Marco Bernard and drummer Kimmo Pörsti from Finland (American Steve Unruh only guests here), continue producing multi-nationally composed and played first-rate symphonic concept albums with an amazing album per year phase. A concept album inspired by the character’s travels as told by Jonathan Swift, that maintains the style and the DNA of The Samurai of Prog.

Rafael Pacha from Spain and Kimmo Pörsti from Finland, both multi-instrumentalists and accomplished composers, have nurtured a profound musical partnership over the years. Their collaboration extends to various projects such as the Samurai of Prog, with this duet format being a notable example. Renowned for their deep affinity for progressive rock, Celtic, Andalusian music and folk genres, these influences take center stage in their latest offering, Sea of Mirrors. Within this remarkable set, you’ll encounter a delightful mix of serene, acoustic folk-infused compositions, as well as the high-energy dynamism of progressive rock.

Second album by Marco Bernard and Kimmo Pörsti (of The Samurai of Prog). Two thirds of The Samurai Of Prog after the success of "Gulliver" re-propose a great symphonic Prog album with this La Tierra. The present section is the one composed by the Finnish Kimmo Pörsti (drums and percussion) and the Italian Marco Bernard (bass Rickenbacker 4003), and together with them a series of great guests chosen among the most famous South American musicians and the great Italian keyboard player Oliviero LaCagnina. The Samurai of Prog return with a new album of originals inspired by Miyazaki’s films. From pastorale to epic, this is symphonic progressive rock of a cinematic scope. 75 minutes of lush orchestration (including violin, flute, saxophone, horns, trumpets and a multitude of keyboard and guitar tones), with ringing Rickenbacker bass and wide dynamic range drums providing backbone throughout. Featuring compositions and guest performances by Oliviero Lacagnina (Latte e Miele), Octavio Stampalía (Jinetes Negros), Elisa Montaldo (Il Tempio delle Clessidre), Luca Scherani (La Coscienza di Zeno), Michele Mutti (La Torre dell’Alchimista), Yuko Tomiyama, plus many more.
