Hot in the Shade is the fifteenth studio album by KISS. Released October 17, 1989, it is the first KISS studio album since 1981's Music from "The Elder" to feature three members singing lead vocals on the album. It also marked the last KISS album with drummer Eric Carr before his death in 1991.

It is also the final Kiss album to feature Carr in its entirety before his death in November 1991. The album is one of the band's longest, with a running time of nearly an hour. Of the 15 tracks on the album, only five were performed live. "Forever", co-written by Michael Bolton, was a pop hit and became a semi-regular part of the live setlist. Hot in the Shade was certified Gold on December 20, 1989. Its most successful single, "Forever" reached #8 on the Billboard charts, the band's highest charting single in the US since "Beth", 13 years earlier.

He is currently the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Ceili Rain, a group he founded which combines Celtic, rock and contemporary Christian music.

Trouble Walkin' is the third full-length solo album released by Ace Frehley. No longer under the band name Frehley's Comet the album features guest performances by former Kiss drummer Peter Criss, as well as Skid Row members Sebastian Bach, Rachel Bolan and Dave Sabo. The album peaked at #102 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lone single, a cover of The Move's "Do Ya", did not chart. "Hide Your Heart", co-written by Paul Stanley, first appeared on Bonnie Tyler's Hide Your Heart album, and later appeared Kiss' Hot in the Shade, released the same month as this album. Lead vocals for "2 Young 2 Die" were provided by rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Richie Scarlet. Former Kiss drummer Peter Criss was thanked for his contributions which were limited to backing vocals on "Trouble Walkin'", "2 Young 2 Die" and "Back to School".
