My overriding goal during my treasured 31 years as conductor of BYU Singers was to give both students and audiences experiences that would fulfill and stretch their musical sensibilities. It was not difficult finding concert literature to accomplish part of this goal, but it was in my desire to balance the program that I experienced frustration. I was fully aware that an element of “lighter,” more entertainment-oriented pieces was needed to balance our programs. But finding pieces and—even more— arrangements of those pieces worthy of the vocal and musical abilities of the extra- ordinary students in the choir was virtually impossible. So I decided to write my own arrangements for the choir.

Ample Fire Within is the 2008 album by doom metal duo Ascend, which is Greg Anderson and Gentry Densley, with special guests, including Kim Thayil of Soundgarden on guitar and Randall Dunn of something on percussion. This was released by Southern Lord.

The electrifying trio of Glen McDaniel, Nick Villalobos, and Zack Clark, together known as Simply Three, has been captivating audiences worldwide with high-octane performances since 2010.

Jenny Oaks Baker returns with this tour de force of popular themes from the silver screen. Jenny often gravitates toward songs that have a timeless quality this album is no exception. She has carefully chosen songs with beloved melodies that lend themselves to a larger-than-life production style. Her Juilliardtrained, highly skilled approach to the violin shines on "Across the Stars" from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and her deep musicality comes through on the haunting tune "In Dreams" from The Lord of the Rings. She also stays true to her spiritual roots on classics "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" and "Chariots of Fire", which celebrate the faith that underpins her career. "With great pleasure I was able to listen to this beautiful latest work by the prestigious violinist Jenny Oaks Baker. I have known this amazing artist for a few years and I always follow her performances when I can. I've always had the same vibrant impression: she plays the violin from the bottom of her soul.
