Kreuzjoch Duo

An internationally awarded ensemble, the violinists Almuth Siegel and Ágnes Pusker (Duo ASAP) create a diverse program around the motto "dialogues". With "passion, temperament and witty playfulness" (Newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung") they present works from four centuries including WORLD PREMIERE RECORDINGS.

Maxence Larrieu was born in Marseille on October 27th 1934. He’s one of the best representative men of the French flute school. He was taught by Joseph Rampal and belongs to the Rampal’s flute school, with Jean-Pierre Rampal and Alain Marion. He obtains the first flute prize with Gaston Crunelle (1951), and also the chamber music first prize of the National Superior Music College of Paris (1953). He also won the first prize of the international competition of Geneva, and was graduate from the international competition of München (1956). From 1954 to 1966, he wase a solo flautist for the Comic Opera of Paris, and then for the Paris Opera’s orchestra until 1978. He left this post to follow the virtuoso lesson at the National Music College of Geneva, and also at the National Superior Music College of Lyon.

The early 19th century and earlier, the instrumental sonata for ensemble that included piano was usually called "piano sonata with instrumental accompaniment".

Formed in 2019, award-winning violin and cello duo GAIA have rapidly won plaudits for their pioneering programming and bold and daring performances.Their debut album release features three works specially written for the duo, and also bears testimony to their championing of works by underrepresented and overlooked voices from classical music’s past.

Gran Duo Italiano, formed by Mauro Tortorelli (violin) and Angela Meluso (piano), boasts a discography that includes world-premiere recordings of music by Gaetano Fusella, Camillo Sivori (Paganini's only pupil) and Rosario Scalerio (himself a pupil of Sivori) with Tactus Recording. Radio broadcasts of their music on Italy's Rai Radio 3 were enthusiastically received by audience and critics alike, and the releases were well reviewed in specialized music magazines such as Musica, Amadeus, Fanfare, Harmonia Mundi and Gramophone.

Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa met while working in an aviation company. After singing together at a Christmas party, these young music lovers decided to pursue a career naming their act Duo Dinamico. They started with a live performance at a local radio station and recording an EP for the first time in 1959, featuring "Little Darling," "Alone," "Cowboy," and "Recordandote." Soon, Duo Dinamico was performing along with Luis Mariano, Lucho Gatica, even the Platters, and getting main roles in movies such as Boton De Ancla and Buscame A Esa Chica. Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations is a contrapuntal tour de force, and one of the pinnacles in the history of the variation genre. Composed ‘to refresh the spirits of music-lovers’, it is a constantly fascinating and deeply enriching evocation of an entire musical universe. This arrangement with two ten-string guitars is a transcription of the original text including later corrections and additional musical indications made by the composer.

This Da Vinci Classics album is a pioneering project, presenting hitherto unrecorded works by three lesser-known composers. The common trait shared by Charles Doisy (?-1807), Giacomo Merchi (1730-1789) and Antoine de Lhoyer (1768-1852) is the fact that at least a part of their musical activity took place in France. The works recorded here were selected by the recording artists, Duo Noli-Soattin, after long and thorough archival research: this resulted in the choice of a series of original duets for two guitars with five single strings. These works were found at the Bibliothéque National de France, Det Kongelige Bibliotek (Denmark) and at the Københavns Universitetsbibliotek (Denmark).
