Kristoffer "Kris" Kristofferson is an American country music singer, songwriter, musician, and film actor. He is known for such hits as "Me and Bobby McGee", "For the Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", and "Help Me Make It Through the Night". Kristofferson is the sole writer of most of his songs, and he has collaborated with various other figures of the Nashville scene such as Shel Silverstein. In 1985, Kristofferson joined fellow country artists Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash in forming the country music supergroup "The Highwaymen". In 2004, Kristofferson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. A celebrated singer, songwriter and actor, Kris Kristofferson emerged after a period of struggle as one of the major artists of the 1970s, eventually translating that acclaim into a fruitful career in Hollywood. His songs "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," and "For the Good Times," all chart-topping hits, redefined the sound of country music, making it more personal and serious — hallmarks of the outlaw country movement he helped create.

It is mighty, mighty hard to believe, but this famed duets album–which went to #1 on the country charts and #26 on the pop charts and garnered a Gold Record–has never been issued on CD outside of Japan, and even there only in the late '90s on a limited run. This was a love album par excellence, as the two stars had just gotten married weeks prior to the record's release in 1973; interestingly, though Kris Kristofferson, fresh from recording his country chart-topper "Why Me," was the bigger star at the time, Full Moon really played to Rita Coolidge's strengths, as it was produced by her long-time producer David Anderle and set its songs in a higher key more suited to her dreamy vocals. The album scored a huge hit with Kristofferson's "A Song I'd Like to Sing," and followed that up with a smash version of Tom Jans' "Loving Arms;" the duo's rendition of Kristofferson's "From the Bottle to the Bottom" also won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.

Natural Act is the third and final duet album by Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge, released in 1978 on A&M Records. The couple would divorce the following year.

In this 1971 album-gone-gold, Kristofferson makes the much anticipated transition from successful songwriter to top recording artist. Jody and the Kid; Billy Dee; Good Christian Soldier, and more. By the time Monument came to release Kristofferson's second album, The Silver Tongued Devil and I, in July 1971, he was the author of four songs that had topped the country or pop charts for others. Kristofferson himself had not yet reached the charts with a recording of his own, but his spectacular success as a songwriter made The Silver Tongued Devil and I a much-anticipated record.

Kris Kristofferson had a belated start of a great recording career when he was in his mid thirties, releasing Kristofferson in 1970. The Nashville star distinguished himself from other Country acts, taking on a political stance lyrically that exceeded Nashville standards.
