Martine de Bressac returns home after a brief stay in a mental institution only to discover that her husband Armand who has been having an affair with a man named Fiore who works for them. Norma is a novice nun who violated body is discovered in the woods by Armand who takes the young woman home. Armand, Norma and Fiore conspire to rid themselves of Martine by murdering her and taking her fortune…..

This thriller is based on the still politically sensitive story of the assassination of General Francisco Franco's heir apparent General Carrero Blanco. The General was to have been kidnapped by the Basque separatists, but when that proved too difficult, they arranged to bomb his car (with him in it) to smithereens. In order to do this, they had to dig a tunnel under a city street. The ensuing explosion blew the car over the roof of a nearby house.

A woman goes to a farewell party for soldiers going off to war. The next morning, she's drunk, married, and pregnant, but doesn't remember who her husband is. The incomparable Preston Sturges treads where other directors feared back in 1944 and miraculously gets away with it. Sturges milks the panic and desperation of the situation for all it's worth, turning into a fast-paced madcap comedy that's part screwball and part slapstick, with the usual Sturges undertones of social commentary. Eddie Bracken is the leading man, playing the shy straight arrow character that made him famous. Great fun.

From a politically left leaning Lillian Hellman penned novel-turned-film THE LITTLE FOXES (1941) is a hidden triumph of Hollywood. A harsh, desperate look at a family living in the deep south circa 1900 plagued by deceit, greed and selfishness. Master director William Wyler once again crafts an engaging cinematic gem with an all-star cast and powerful themes. Bette Davis portrayed one of the most despicable roles of her career. Teresa Wright plays her daughter, who, as the saving grace of the film, is able to distinguish her villainous mothers traits and seeks to distance herself before she too is caught up in its cancerous influences. Masterpiece is appropriate to describe the subtle interplay or character traits, many of whom are likeable until their hidden agenda is determined. Add into this mix, the extraordinary deep-focus cinematography of Gregg Toland and you have a film worthy of multiple repeat viewings.

During the time of change of the mid-19th Century, Yaichiro is bid farewell by his fellow samurai friends Munezo and Samon as he leaves their clan's fiefdom on the northwest coast of Japan (Unasaka) to take an important position within the shogunate in far away Edo. Munezo has lived modestly with his mother and sister Shino after his father was forced into suicide after the failure of a bridge project. Kie, a farm girl serves them as a maid in their house. A married American woman has gotten involved with another man while visiting relatives in Rome. She decides that the time has come to break off the relationship, and she makes plans to return home to her husband.
