Dutch saxophonist/vocalist Candy Dulfer is a charismatic and gifted performer known for her funky, genre-bending take on smooth jazz, dance-pop, and instrumental R&B. Initially brought to the public's attention via appearances with Prince, Dulfer (whose influences range from Sonny Rollins and Miles Davis to Maceo Parker and David Sanborn) went on to become a hugely successful crossover jazz star.

Released by Funky Town Grooves in 2010 through EMI, this release combines the third and fourth albums by Brass Construction, which were originally issued, respectively, in 1977 and 1978. They were not among the band's best releases, but they did generate four charting singles, namely the Top 20 R&B hit "L-O-V-E-U," as well as "Celebrate," "Help Yourself," and "Get Up." There's a handful of solid album cuts, the best of which is the earlier album's "Top of the World," a jam that contains a wild guitar solo and an incredible breakdown. Casual fans should seek out either The Best of Brass Construction: Movin' & Changin' or Classic Masters.

Jazz singer Amy McConnell and trumpet player William Sperandei have followed up their JUNO nominated debut album Stealing Genius with an even more arresting offering, Accomplice. Accomplice sees the pair taking on repertoire from composers of the 60s and 70s like Legrand, Brel, Loewe & Mancini. McConnell and Sperandei push the stylistic boundaries of jazz by taking these much loved, complex melodies and putting them in a fresh context influenced by the sound of vintage French pop and electronica. Their groovy takes on favourites like L-O-V-E, Where Do I Begin? and Wild Is Love embrace non-traditional jazz rhythms and instrumentation to dramatic and compelling effect.
