4 years after their latest album, the ALL NEW album will be out just before Christmas. Lacrimosa were the first band, combining Gothic with Metal, flooded by classical orchestrations when they released their groundbreaking “Schakal” back in 1994…
For its 30th anniversary this extremely beautiful box presents LACRIMOSA from all sides! Over three CDs, with a total playing time of three hours and forty minutes, the legendary 25th anniversary concert immerses the listener in LACRIMOSA's incomparable live atmosphere.
Lacrimosa is a gothic duo led by German Tilo Wolff, the main composer, and Finn Anne Nurmi. They are currently based in Switzerland, but originally from Germany. Originally counted among the bands of the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst genre, Lacrimosa have developed their style more towards powerful metal, but gothic elements still remain.
Their current musical style mixes gothic rock and heavy metal, along with violin, trumpet, and more classical instruments, although their musical development throughout the years has also led to changes in instrumentation.
"Zeitreise" is a collection of songs that ranges from the past into the prentent. It contains old songs, new arranged songs, and also a brand new track! "We are in the 30th year of Lacrimosa and I noticed in recent years that a not inconsiderable part of our audience has some trouble to grasp the entire work with its more than 100 compositions – which is of course more than understandable! Therefore, we feel the need to offer a compact journey through the history of Lacrimosa! And so the title Time Travel is to be taken literally, because in addition to the view into the musical history (as well as special versions of some songs) this double CD, with “Lass die Nacht nicht über mich fallen – Reprise” offers a radical new recording of this particular title and with “Drei Sekunden” an exclusive and completely new song!
Testimonium is the thirteenth studio album of the Swiss gothic metal band Lacrimosa, released August 25, 2017 on Hall of Sermon. The album, which is a requiem of 10 songs, is divided into four acts. The requiem is dedicated to the musicians died in 2016, who influenced the work of Tilo Wolff.
Arturs Maskats was born on December 20th, 1957 in Valmiera. He studied at the Jāzeps Mediņš Music School, where among his teachers were Jānis Līcītis (harmony) and Marija Mediņa (the musical form, instrumentation) – a representative of a notable family of Latvian composers and the spiritual motivator of Arturs Maskats’s further progress. He finished the composition class with Valentīns Utkins (1982) at the Latvian State Conservatory, and, during his years of study, he received the top award at the All Nations Young Composer Festival (1981) in Yerevan, Armenia.
"On March 22nd 2019, we will release “Zeitreise” (Time Travel) – a collection of works that ranges from the past into the future! We are in the 30th year of Lacrimosa and I noticed in recent years that a not inconsiderable part of our audience has some trouble to grasp the entire work with its more than 100 compositions – which is of course more than understandable! And this collection even reaches into the future, because with “In Schatten der Sonne” we present another new composition, which is also a preview of the next studio album! "
