Led Zeppelin formed out of the ashes of The Yardbirds. Jimmy Page had joined the band in its final days, playing a pivotal role on the group's final album, 1967's Little Games, which also featured string arrangements from John Paul Jones. During 1967, the Yardbirds were fairly inactive. Whilst the band members decided the group's future, Page returned to session work in 1967. Because no title is printed on the album, it is usually referred to as Led Zeppelin IV, following the naming sequence used by the band's first three studio albums. Essential: a masterpiece of rock music
Led Zeppelin at its highest point and rock at its highest point too. Really, this album is so freaken good, its umbelievable! 1971 was a great year for music in general and specially in prog, but no one, and I mean no one came close to this…this is rock as only the gods can make it.
