Liza Lim’s debut on KAIROS includes her monumental new work Extinction Events and Dawn Chorus, which reflects her ongoing artistic reflection of the connection between humans and nature. “When one walks through country with a custodian of the land, one begins to see that every stone, every plant, every inch of earth is named and contains within it whole histories and liturgies of people and ancestors.” (Lim) Liza Lim (born 30 August 1966) is an Australian composer. Lim writes concert music (chamber and orchestral works) as well as music theatre and has collaborated with artists on a number of installation and video projects. Her work reflects her interests in Asian ritual culture, the aesthetics of Aboriginal art and shows the influence of non-Western music performance practice.
When Yunchan Lim became the youngest ever winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2022 at the age of 18, he began a meteoric rise to worldwide fame. Now he presents his most personal and thought-provoking work to date - The Seasons - one of Tchaikovsky's most intimate piano works. Recorded live in England, Lim views the twelve pieces not just in the classical series of months - but as a story describing the last year of a person's life.
Yunchan Lim is the one of the most talked-about classical artists on the planet. In 2024, he presents his debut studio album on Decca Classics - the Chopin Études, Op.10 & Op.25. "To me, Chopin is a composer who yearned for the past. I wanted the album cover to feel like solitude and nostalgia, and to look like you have come across an old photo." - Yunchan Lim
